QuickBooks Online Advanced - Custom Fields

I know there's been A LOT of "feedback" about QBO Advanced.  All I'm going to say is if you have a need for custom fields, you might want to check out QBO Advanced.  They have rolled out A LOT of flexibility vs. the other levels.

I included a screenshot below just as an example.

Also, you can customize and filter reports based on these custom fields also.

And I would say that the few added features combined with the reduction of usage limits in no way justifies a 250% price increase over Plus ( from an overpriced $60/month to an outrageous $150/month when for the price of a month and a half you can be in desktop for 3 years)

Everyone has a right to their opinion.

If your needs are better served by desktop, I HIGHLY encourage you to switch.  When you compare OTHER online accounting solutions, IMO QuickBooks Online is still very reasonably priced with different levels.  In addition to the fact that QBO Advanced is still a new product and I'm sure they will be rolling out a LOT of new features to it to increase the value.   Trust me, I was one of the people who also didn't see the value in the advanced version.  This new feature though, I have to say what this allows the program to be capable of is pretty darn good in my opinion.

Like I said, everyone has a right to their opinion.

A lot of flexibility means a lot of different things.

Is there a listing somewhere that shows what exactly QBO advanced has that QBO+ does not?

If intuits history has anything to do with the future of QBO advanced, new features will mean higher cost too.

QuickBooks rolled out a few new features but it's not available in your Plus plan. In other words, tricky Intuit downgraded your Plus plan when it comes to expecting new product enhancements you always wanted for over the years.

Thousands and thousands of you QBO users send feedbacks for some of these feature requests over the years but it seems you may not be getting it on your Plus plan.

1. Make the User rights more flexible and customizable
2. Up to 25-Users
3. Create multiple invoices all at once
4. Import Invoices from Excel CSV file (maybe 'Vendor Bills' also since its already available in the UK)
5. Add 'Custom Fields' on the Customer Information profile
6. Dedicated Customer Success Manager???
7. Premium care (no more 1-hour wait, I guess)
9. Unlimited COA, Class/Location tracking (lucky they didn't touch your products/services yet)
10. Fathom financial reporting app for free

11. Overview (dashboard and sales)

Yes, these are already available in QBO but just not available in your current plan. If you $150 per month, you can have it.

Maybe it's worth $150 p/mo (from $60 p/mo plan) when they have:
1. Seamless moving to QuickBooks Desktop using your computer OS and popular browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari)
2. Making real QBO backup (also QBO to QBO conversion)
3. Banking enhancements: be able to create sales receipts and also be able to use items details tab for both income and expenses

1. Make the User rights more flexible and customizable

specifically how are they more flexible and customizable, that is a general statement that really says nothing

2. Up to 25-Users
3. Create multiple invoices all at once

this was asked for? I must be missing something

4. Import Invoices from Excel CSV file (maybe 'Vendor Bills' also since its already available in the UK)
5. Add 'Custom Fields' on the Customer Information profile
Yep those were needed

6. Dedicated Customer Success Manager???
7. Premium care (no more 1-hour wait, I guess)
9. Unlimited COA, Class/Location tracking (lucky they didn't touch your products/services yet)
10. Fathom financial reporting app for free

11. Overview (dashboard and sales)

If anyone is curious about what's available in QBO Advanced and is it worth the upgrade or not, they can check out the demo test-drive.

Since none of the above new features are included in the PLUS plan, one can argue they've either downgraded the plan or increased the price if you need it. Pick your choice.

I can't find this in the sample company.  There is no Custom Field list in All Lists.  Do you have to activate it in Settings?  Can't find it there either

The sample company is QBO Plus, not QBO Advanced.

So...the sample company to test drive Advanced is only Plus? Meaning all those fancy new features of Advanced are not able to be test driven?

Why does it say "Advanced" in front of the link?

QuickBooks Online Advanced - Custom Fields

Hello everyone. I can provide some clarification on QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced and the sample company.

The Advanced sample company has features not available in Plus, such as creating multiple invoices in a batch action. Additionally, the test drive is currently in the process of being updated with the Custom Fields feature. In the meantime, I'm including some articles which cover Custom Fields in Advanced:

If I can be of additional assistance, please let me know. Hope you all have a great rest of your week.

It's for QBO Advanced test-drive file but they just have not added all the new features, it seems.

For example, you will see Multiple Invoices (create "+" sign > Customers), Import Invoices from CSV file (Gear > Tools > Import Data > Invoices), Fathom app report, and maybe few more. BUT not all.

Since the sample company does not have all of the features of Advanced one would wonder if Advanced actually has all the features of Advanced that only an expenditure of $150 would determine.

Typical Intuit, rush a not ready for prime time product to market and fix it (or not fix it as history would say) later

It is curious that @MarshallA has the feature before the sample co is updated with it, which makes me wonder if @MarshallA  is not an Intuit employee, coming on here and espousing the benefits and not batting any eyelid at the wildly exorbitant cost.

@Malcolm Ziman  You do realize that anyone pays for the QBO Advanced program, has those features right? Or, has that fact escaped you?  Maybe someone who has a successful consulting business and makes sure they have access to ALL versions of QBO so they can efficiently help their clients no matter which version they are using?  Food for thought.

I get what you are saying, but unless

1. the client does no accounting at all and sends you his receipts

or

2. the client has also subscribed to the advanced version

it does no good to have it yourself.

That is a pretty expensive option to pay for, if you can not use it to generate income

"You can create as many custom fields as you want and have 10 active fields at a time."
https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Help-Articles/Create-add-and-edit-custom-fields-in-QuickBook...

This article missed to mention —you can create up to 10 custom fields for internal but show to customers (public) it's still only limited to 3 custom fields (same as plus and essentials). Why? That makes no sense.

custom_fileds_limit1.png

Also, on drop-down list type, they could have added 50+ lines instead of 25 lines limit. In QBO, they still don't have sales by state report. At least, with this, you will be able to filter the sales report by state. Not intuitive.

I decided to upgrade so my staff can do estimates and track them online.  I attempted to customize an estimate with custom fields, the problem is that only 3 of the custom fields can be seen by our clients.  I need them to see all of them.  I called QB priority circle and the CSR that answered was nice but did not seem to know too much of what I was inquiring about.  Why would QBO advance limit the fields client can see to 3?  Is this correct?  Thank you!

I know its ridiculous for QBO Advanced to limit the custom fields clients can see to 3.

This needs to be fixed!

Thanks for providing feedback, @AMWAT.

The added custom fields are relevant for the reporting features. They make tracking and customizing functionality flexible.

Yes, it's definitely not well thought-out at all. It looks like cheap feature enhancement to attract $150 per month customers.
