Sending a copy of your company file to your accountant so they can review your books is a breeze. Before proceeding to the steps, allow me to provide information on how you can do it since your accountant uses a new version.

When sending an Accountant's Copy, we have to ensure that the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) versions are compatible. Having a different version of QBDT will not import the changes made by your accountant. Since there's a possibility that the features they used aren't available in the version you're using.

However, if the gap between the versions is just one year, you can still work on the Accountant's Copy even you're using a different one and the accountant has a more recent version. Once everything is fine, you're now ready to create an Accountant's Copy. When finished, here's how you can upload the file to your accountant:

1. In your QBDT program, go to the File menu and hover over Send Company File.
2. Next, navigate to the Accountant's Copy option and then Client Activities.
3. Then, select Send to Accountant and then, click Next.
4. From there, click Accountant's Copy and then Next.
5. Input the dividing date. Then, select Next.
6. Then, type your and your accountant's email addresses.
7. Next, create a file password for the file. Your accountant needs this to open it.
8. Once done, select Send.

Thank you all for your responses!  My CPA had the accounting version of Quickbooks so they were able to send me the backup file in my version.  I guess the intern accountant wasn't aware he needed to send my file back the way I sent it with my version.  Thank you!
