What is the default font and font size used on printed checks for Quickbooks Online? Is there a way to adjust the font and size that doesn't involve changing the scale in the printer settings?
Solved! Go to Solution.
@pato , I believe it is Arial 10. No for sure, though.
Good luck getting a real answer from anyone Intuit.
I'm here to provide some details about the default font and size on printed checks, @pato.
The Check font and size follow the standard default for check printing. Also, there isn't an option to adjust or customize the default font and font size.
QuickBooks also requires these settings to ensure that all pages displayed properly:
I'm adding this article, to get more information on how to print checks and pay stubs for your employees: Print Checks.
For future reference, feel free to check this article on how to access reports for paychecks in QBO: Run and Print Reports.
Please get back in here if you have other queries. I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you. Have a nice day.
thank you @Rubielyn_J, but are you going to tell me what the default font and size are or do I have to guess?
Hello, pato.
Thank you for dropping by this evening. Unfortunately, at this time, you cant change the font style or size printed on checks. However, I could see how that would be very beneficial, especially the font size. For that reason, I'm suggesting this change to our product development team to see about getting this change made in a future update. Keep an eye on our Blog as that's where you'll find information on changes made.
I'm also including some information on how to print checks in QBO and check printing alignment.
If you have any other questions, feel free to post here anytime. Thank you and have a nice evening.
@Nick_M @Rubielyn_J Can someone please just tell me the default font and size?! that's what I need know. I don't care about any other information at this point. What i need to know is... is it size 10? 12? 14? is Arial? Cambria? Gothic?
@pato , I believe it is Arial 10. No for sure, though.
Good luck getting a real answer from anyone Intuit.
thank you, @Just_me
Thanks for coming back, pato.
The font for the numeric dollar amount is preset by QuickBooks to Arial 10 point font. The font style and size when printing payroll checks are made by default in QuickBooks Online (QBO). To print the preprinted checks, just follow the steps and details in the Print paychecks in QuickBooks Online article. Just in case you encounter alignment issues, see Fix print alignment for preprinted checks article to troubleshoot the problem.
If you'll want to change the font of the payroll checks, just download it and use a PDF editor to change the font. Feel free to visit our Paychecks and paystubs page for more insight about managing paychecks and pay stubs in your account.
I'm just one click away if you need a hand with running payroll reports or any QBO related. I'm always here to ensure your success. Have a great day.
thank you @RCV . I think it would be beneficial to allow users to adjust the font as needed. Wells Fargo fraud filters need minimum font size 12 to pick up fraudulent checks. The extra steps of rescaling the printer settings to estimate a size 12 font and then reformatting the spacing of the checks every time I print them from a different printer is a huge hassle and should only be a temporary solution. I hope Intuit takes this feedback seriously and hope to hear of the changes very soon.
@RCV thanks for the info. What about the Pay to the order of and memo fields. are they also size 10 font?
Thanks for coming back to the Community, pato.
Yes, the pay to the order of and memo fields are using the Arial 10 point font. I can see how important it is for your business to be able to adjust the font size for checks. This can help save your business time. Please know ideas like this are helpful in identifying what we need to improve on for consideration in future enhancements.
I invite you to visit the QuickBooks Blog to see the latest news, features, and enhancements added to QBO. From there, you’ll find resources to efficiently manage your business.
Feel free to post in the Community if you have concerns about QuickBooks. I’m more than happy to lend a helping hand. Wishing you continue success.
Just upgraded to 2021 Desktop Pro. My preprinted checks are printing with **104.95 (example). Where do I go to remove the **. This is new - never had this issue with any other version.
I appreciate your time posting here in the Community, @invoicesach.
Let me provide some insights about this asterisk showing in your printed checks.
This asterisk is a filler used to avoid fraud. It is to prevent anyone from changing the amount to $2,104.95, for example. That being said, we're unable to remove this symbol on your printed checks.
I've also included this article to guide you more in printing checks in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please feel free to post here in the Community if you have any more questions with QuickBooks. I'm here to help you whenever you need further assistance. Have a wonderful week.
Not sure I understand. QB has it as default. I changed the margins so the amount printed clearly; and now the asterix? Weird. I understand about the fraud. But the only change for me is an upgrade to 2021 from 2018
