Does anyone know where to buy a copy of QB for Mac Desktop 2020? I'm currently on QB Mac 2015, and running Mac Sierra. Because of other software issues, I will very soon need to upgrade to either High Sierra or Mojave, but not Catalina (so QB 2021 is out of the question).
QB Mac 2015 apparently won't run on High Sierra, so I am hoping to find a copy of 2020, I've searched high and low, but the only one i can find is a download on eBay for $50. The price is appealing, but it makes me nervous. I'd rather buy a packaged product.
If anyone here knows of source, or is willing to sell their copy of 2020, please let me know.
Thanks,
Brian

Hi there,
I finally downloaded QB 2020 Mac, and successfully installed and updated my existing company files. I now want to register the software and pay the fee, but am being asked for the "License and Product Numbers in you confirmation email". However i didn't get a confirmation email. What is the best way to proceed in this case?
Also, am i able to install on my desktop and laptop, as long as i make sure to quit before switching machines? (I keep the company files in a Dropbox folder, so they are accessible to either machine).
Thanks,
Brian
Hello Michelle,
I finally downloaded and installed QB2020 for Mac. Installed successfully, and company files updated.
I am trying to register and pay, but am being asked for "the License and Product Numbers in my confirmation email". However because i downloaded directly from the link you sent, i didn't get a confirmation email. I've followed all of the instructions online for finding my numbers, but they apply to my existing copy of 2015, not the new one i've downloaded.
Thanks,
Brian
I appreciate you for trying the steps above, bsp seattle.
We can verify your product and license number by clicking the F2 key on your keyboard. You'll be prompted with the information of your QuickBooks Desktop file.
If you need further assistance in downloading the file, I'd recommend reaching out to our Phone Support team. One of our agents will be able to view your file help you from there. Let me guide you how:

Hi,
FYI the F2 key on a Mac laptop only functions to adjust the screen brightness. However, when i open Product Information under the Help menu, I see a screen with blanks for Product Number / License Number. I assume that is because this is an unregistered copy..... that's my problem: That's what i need. The copy i downloaded (QB 2020 for Mac) came through a direct link that a moderator on this forum sent me earlier in this thread. There was no 'confirmation email'. I can retrieve my Product / License numbers from the Intuit website for my PREVIOUS version (QB 2015 for Mac), but that is of no use to me.
Thanks,
b
I'm here to help you find the product and license number, bsp seattle.
You can log in to the Account Management portal to determine your license and product number before installing QuickBooks. Let me show you how:
In addition, here's an article you can read to learn more about this portal: Manage your QuickBooks Desktop subscriptions and services.
You can also use the License Locator tool to get an email with the information.
On the other hand, make sure to check your email folders:
I've added this link for future guide: What's new in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2020.
Keep me posted if there's anything else I can help you with the newly installed QuickBooks. I'll be around whenever you need additional information.
This is getting very frustrating. Instead of simply replying with pre-packaged instructions to what you think might be my problem here, please read what I'm saying:
I have a registered copy of QB2015 Mac, and have NO PROBLEM finding my Product / License numbers for that, so the License Locator tool, or the F2 key thing, are of no use to me.
MY PROBLEM IS THIS: I have downloaded a NEW COPY OF QB2020 MAC from the web link that was provided by a moderator early in this thread. This download DID NOT come with a confirmation email, so I DO NOT HAVE A PRODUCT OR LICENSE NUMBER THAT I CAN USE TO REGISTER THIS NEW VERSION OF QB.
PLEASE, can someone tell me how to register/pay for this piece of software??
I’ve got you covered, @bsp seattle.

By default Sales only offer QBD 2021. You may purchase QBD 2020 Mac license in marketplaces.
No one should purchase quickBooks in any version at any time. Their history of not keeping up with operating systems suggested it’s intentional in an effort to sell their subscriptions. Don’t bother calling QuickBooks to try to buy QuickBooks 2020 for Mac they’re only trying to sell your subscription and do not have licenses to support QuickBooks 2020. Personally myself I’ll be looking for software other than QuickBooks. I can only be abused so many times.
How can I get a license for a newer version of QB for Mac desktop that will work on my new computer running Mac OS Ventura? I know the 2021 version works; not sure about 2020. Would appreciate it so much!
I've got the information needed on where to get your product license number, CherylB7.
In QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, you can get it instantly via email or logging in to Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs).
Here's how to accomplish it:
To login CAMPs:
You can read through this article that contains the list of information on the compatibility: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2023.
I've also added this link to learn more about the new features included in QuickBooks Mac 2023.
You can always get back to us if you have other concerns about running the program. I'll be right here for you. Have a good one!
You should install the trial version for QB Desktop 2023 Mac Plus on your machine to make sure it works. Then you can buy it later to Intuit or through selected partners/resellers.
I don't want the ridiculously overpriced subscription version of QuickBooks. I want a copy of a desktop version that I can install on my computer without a subscription. I have one small business at home with limited transactions, no payroll, no special needs, just accounting. TO pay $500+ dollars per year is absurd. I was perfectly happy with QB for Mac 2015 until I bought a new computer, and now it doesn't work. I want to find a place where I can buy a license for the 2020 or 2021 desktop versions and use that.
You didn't understand my question. It's not that I can't find the number; it's that I don't have a license. I want to buy one. I have a license and product number for QB Mac 2015; I need to upgrade because I have a new computer but I can't find a version of the non-subscription version of QB to purchase.
I can't find a version of the non-subscription version of QB to purchase.
I highly doubt you'll find a new one-time license for QBD Mac 2020/2021 at this time unless you don't mind using a used license.
If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your book and only need basic features, you should explore another program. You can use the free program for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). This program is quite popular in Asia and Europe.
This is a brilliant reply.
Except that no one can ever come up with the name of accounting software for MAC computers.

Totally agree. I spent 30 minutes with a customer service rep who told me he could help and at the end wanted my phone number so that the sales department could call and set up the online subscription. He totally wasted my time. I specifically stated at the beginning of the chat that I didn't want the subscription plan. Sick and tired of software companies forcing you into these ridiculous monthly plans. GIVE US OUR NO SUBSCRIPTION SOFTWARE BACK!!!
I agree Cheryl. Just went through this on the phone with quickbooks today. I have the same issue.
I hate the idea of putting everything online. It just does not make sense.
