I don't think the trial version has yet been updated so I wouldn't suggest that. We are going to update the release versions first.

Then someone needs to change the policy in this case for "non supported versions" as all that use and paid good money for previous versions were happily managing our companies using 2019 and forward versions, but Intuit decided not to tell us that our product would crash if we upgraded to Sonoma. If you were aware, you should have informed.  If you were aware and did not inform then the issues we are having rest with Intuit.

It is good business to take care of your customers. When a mistake has been made, Intuit should rectify it.  I would hope your "customer" VP would take a hard look at this issue regarding patching 2019 and forward for Sonoma. Sunsetting a four year old app and not informing them that it will crash when they upgrade is not caring for your customers.  Not informing your customers that your product is not ready for prime time running under a new OS should not be an acceptable business practice for a company that drives so many businesses.  Leaving your paid customers with legacy product high and dry without giving them notice of compatibility issues is just not good business.  Allocating the resources to fix this issue for 2019 and forward should be a common sense progression after this experience.  Worst case you should charge a small amount for a patch or offer a deeply discounted upgrade path to a newer compatible version to make things usable with Sonoma.  FWIW, my two pennies.

Amazing! Thank you. You're a genius. Too bad my daughter already had "Superhero Day" last week or I'd be having her dress like you! THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

This workaround is much better than the alternative until QB comes along with their fix. I just have to train myself not to touch the Home Page!

Thanks for providing details of your concern, @karen243. I recognize the inconvenience this issue has caused you in completing your task in QuickBooks Online.

Please know that the glitch you're facing is due to the newly installed macOS version you've had or the Sonoma 14.0. We are aware that when using QuickBooks on the new macOS Sonoma, there can be issues when doing tasks like printing issues with your estimates. Intuit is currently working on compatibility patches for all of our supported versions of QuickBooks for Mac.

That said, I recommend printing your estimates by saving them to your desktop and opening them in Acrobat or Word just like what you did. You can continue doing that in the meantime until the compatibility patch is available.

I've added this article for future use if you need help with common printing issues when using QuickBooks Online on a browser for Windows: Fix QuickBooks Online printing issues on browsers for Windows.

We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue for you. Don't hesitate to come back if you have other questions or concerns. We'd be glad to help.

pacrimfred's you want support for the unsupported product. I understand but I don't have any voice in those decisions or pricing or anything like that.

fwiw note that Apple doesn't support macOS Catalina and it came out in 2019. No security updates, etc. The obvious difference is the new versions of macOS are free. But if you are running an unsupported product it's just a good idea to stick with the same macOS it supports.

Anyway, I'm trying to focus on fixes and work arounds. The best path is to release updates for the supported products first. For the unsupported products so far I don't think we have a workaround. But I'll keep trying.

I am DONE with Intuit. Mac has always been the redheaded stepchild in Intuit's eyes. Every time you make a tech call they want you to go online. A year or two ago I tried it. They don't tell you not all features on Desktop are available online. So I switched back. The pricing has gotten out of hand. This Sonoma thing is the worst. I have invoices that need to go out to keep my business running. F-Intuit. F-QuickBooks. Switching to another bookkeeping software is going to be a mess, but eventually Intuit will be in my rearview mirror. Good riddance.

As stated earlier in this conversation.....   hold the command key after logging in for Mac users and life will be good.

DO

NOT

CLICK

HOME

As this will lock up Quickbooks on Sonoma OS.  That said, after using this work-around, QB has been operating normally.  You just need to use the drop-down menus.

That wasn't someone at Intuit that you were talking to. That was definitely a scam. Don't let scammers take control of your computer, either.

The command key worked for me on Mac M1 Pro with QB 2022. Thank you for that. It would have been nice for support to know that when I called them last week! Very frustrated with this! I wish there were other options! I would switch in a heartbeat!

Solution:

1. Get UTM free or $10 on AppStore

2. Download and install Ventura free on a virtual machine in UTM

3. Download QB to VM.
4. Email yourself your data files to your VM

5. extract data

 6 install gnucash

The Option key workaround was good info, thank you. I can open QB but I am hesitant to start generating invoices or recording transactions. Is this unfounded? Can I confidently run QB in what I assume to be a hobbled state, or is it full operational and stable with the Home screen hidden and tabs disabled? I am running: 2021 (20.0.12.1060 R13.2).

I had hoped there would be an update by now, will we be notified on this board when there is, or should we just keep checking through the Application?

Thank you

The holding option key during startup didnt work for me either. But holding COMMAND during start up did. It took me to the program in finder, I double clicked it, and it opened. Just dont click on the Home Page button on the toolbar for quickbooks. (Im using desktop 2023 plus for mac.

I did a test install on a laptop first as I have been bitten before with new OS's.  It would not let me in so I uninstalled QB for Mac 2021, removed the Plist and let Hazel clean up the rest.  After re-install at least I could open my data file but also found I could not use the Home button or the Home from the menu bar list.  All else seems fine.  I have been using Quicken, Quickbooks and Turbo Tax products for over 30 years and I find this very frustrating and boarding on unethical the way Intuit seems to have no problems screwing with their clients.   I will ALWAYS prefer to have the software installed on my hard drive and handle cloud backup of my data myself.   I really do not appreciate always feeling like I am being leveraged into QB Online.  They even make it very difficult to find the Desktop version for Mac on their website.  Shame on the decision makers.   Shame!

They even make it very difficult to find the Desktop version for Mac on their website.

You have to call their sales team by phone or buy the license through selected partners.

QuickBooks Mac 2023 update is out. Run QuickBooks->Check For Updates. (Hold the option key down when launching if you can't open your existing QB Mac 2023).

Other supported version updates to follow soon.

First, do you have a Ventura based backup? If so, then you will need to reinstall your OS. You’ll lose everything on your hard drive. Once it’s reinstalled, restore your backup.

Is QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2021 a supported version that will receive a Sonoma update? I believe that was the last version one could purchase outright rather than subscription. Thx
