Receipt Management

I am trying to open the RECEIPT MANAGEMENT by clicking "Vendors" and then "Receipt Management".

Every time that I do this, the receipt management tries to open, but doesn't open and the Quickbooks Enterprise program shuts down.

What am I doing wrong? I am trying to get started using receipt management by uploading photos of receipts into Quickbooks.

I'll make sure you'll be able to upload your receipts in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), Jeffrey.

You'll want to ensure your QBDT is up to date with the latest features and improvements. This way, we can prevent unusual behavior to occur. If you have, and the issue persists, I recommend running the QuickBooks Tool Hub.

This tool fixes common errors in your QBDT. Let me show you how.

  1. Close your QuickBooks.
  2. Download our QuickBooks Tool Hub
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install.
  5. When the install finishes, open the tool hub on your Windows desktop.
  6. Select Program Problems.
  7. Click Quick Fix my Program.
  8. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

You can also see this article for more details about the process: QuickBooks Desktop doesn't start or won't open.

You might also want to check this link for additional guidance: Upload receipts to QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus or Enterprise. This consists of steps o....

I'm also attaching this article that can guide you in matching your accounts efficiently: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'll be around if you have other concerns or questions uploading your receipts. Just leave the details below and I get back to you as soon as possible. Keep safe!

EXACT same issue for me.  Never worked after upgrade from 20 to 21 Enterprise.  Been on with support multiple times and we think its the data file (although file dr. says the company file is OK, a new empty company created from scratch allows it to open receipt management page without rebooting QBD).  How were you able to resolve your issue?

Thanks for reaching out in the QuickBooks Community, @khazel.

Let me share with you another troubleshooting steps that can resolve this issue. This way, we can ensure you're able to open the Receipt Management window without closing the program.

To start, let's repair your company file using the Rebuild Data tool. This is a built-in tool in QuickBooks Desktop that can help you fix some minor data issues within the system.

  1. Go to the File menu, then hover over Utilities and select Rebuild Data.
  2. On the QuickBooks Information window, click OK. Follow the onscreen steps to save a backup.
  3. Let the tool repair your file. It may take some time. QuickBooks may seem stuck, but as long as you can move your mouse, the tool is working.
  4. When the tool finishes, select OK.
  5. Go to the File menu. Then hover over Utilities and select Verify Data.
  6. Let the tool check your file for data issues.

If QuickBooks finds an issue with your company file, select Rebuild Now. If you’re still having data issues after rebuilding your company file, try again.

If the persists, manually repair your company using QuickBooks File Doctor. Just ensure to backup your company file before you get started.

Please let me know how it goes by commenting down below. I'll be there to assist you. Keep safe.

i have been experiencing this same problem. Every time I open receipt management - it closes QuickBooks.  I have verified my data and used the quick fil toll suggested here - but its still not working - this is only happening with the receipt management function. I have been using this feature all year but got behind about a month ago so haven't used for a bit and now I can't get it to work.

We can try other troubleshooting steps, gsrivas.

We can open a sample company file and try to open the Receipt Management window from there. Just close and reopen your company file. When you're asked to select which company file you want to open, click Open a sample file and then the business type.

Open your Receipt management window by going to the Vendors menu and click Receipt Management. If you're able to do so without QuickBooks crashing, you can repair your company file using QuickBooks File Doctor

However, if you get the same thing, I suggest reaching out to us so we can investigate the issue further. Here's how:

  1. Click the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue something like being unable to open the Receipt Management window.
  4. Then select Let's talk and then choose a way to connect.

Feel free to use this link for more details about uploading receipts to QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you have other questions or how these steps work. I'll be glad to help you through it. Take care and stay safe!

Has anyone been able to fix this?

I have tried all solutions and nothing.  Now QB wants to take my data file for 5 days and try to fix it.  AND YES I cant work in QB for these 5 days.......right....

Any other suggestions that you have found to work would be appreciated.

Hi there, CurtOtt.

Once you report your issue to QuickBooks support and send your file, they'll set expectations for the Data Services process.

That said, you'll not be able to use QuickBooks until you get the file back. You can also check your email occasionally to see any updates from QuickBooks Data Services team.

You may also follow the steps give by Catherine_B above to contact our support team. This way, they can check the status of your case and answer your questions.

Feel free to hit the Reply button if you still have follow up questions. I'll be here to help. Have a wonderful week!

Is there any resolution to this issue?  I was using receipt management successfully with several employees all summer.  Added someone new yesterday-- he uploaded credit card receipts and also a bill (I was unaware of this new feature) today and now when I try to get into Receipt Management Quickbooks shuts down.

I use Premier Plus Contractor Edition 2021.

The other issue I have is that I use Quickbooks with three separate companies (3 company data files)-- I've only ever gotten the app to recognize one of the three companies.

I'd appreciate any help that is out there.

Issue was never resolved for me.  Took it to senior support and they took a copy of my system and could not resolve.  They said they would take it to programming and that was over 6 weeks ago or more.  I switched to an APA management system that is taking care of all my AP and credit card management.

Hi Curt.  I've now been through the whole process you describe with Quickbooks support-- now at a dead end.  Can I ask if the APA management system you went with is Expensify?

Hello

Yea QB still has not gotten back to me so I moved on.  I now use Stampli to handle all my CC transactions, along with all AP processing and payments.  Stampli also has its own credit card where the charges automatically load into the app and all you have to do is attach documentation if needed.  Highly recommend Stampli.

Hello QB Team,

Has there been a resolution to this issue? I am having the same problem and have already completed the troubleshooting tasks mentioned in this thread previously.

Receipt Management

Thanks for getting involved with this thread, lcarnel.

I've reviewed our ongoing investigation about QuickBooks crashing while trying to open Receipt Management. Since this is a file-specific issue, and none of our recommended troubleshooting steps in this thread solved it, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team and reference the investigation's case number (INV-59766).

They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and add the account to our list of affected users if necessary. This ensures you'll receive email notifications about any updates relating to it.

They can be reached while using QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. In your top menu bar, go to Help, then QuickBooks Desktop Help.

  2. Click Contact Us.

  3. Enter a brief description of the issue in our Ask a question (or tell us what's wrong) field, then hit Continue.

  4. Select We’ll contact you for a callback or Message Us to start an instant messaging session.

Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a lovely day!
