I had QuickBooks two years ago and it was so easy it was saving me a lot of time. Now I hate it. Every time I make a deposit from any of my clients into my bank account QuickBooks will automatically categorized those deposits and link them to one of my clients from the past. I called a few months ago in regards to this issue and I was told to delete the rule which I don't have set anywhere and I spend over two hours on the phone sharing my screen with a QuickBooks representative but nothing was fixed. So I had to go into my bank account, look up every single deposit, open every single check image, go back to QuickBooks and change the clients name on each deposit. I was told that QuickBooks will continue to do this to save me time and now I have to sit in front of my computer and keep on correcting the clients name from every deposit I make. How is this saving me time? Do I work for QuickBooks? I have a business to run and QuickBooks needs to stop doing this asap. Suggestion are not saving me time and are not accurately.

Hi there, @treesnative

I understand that this problem is error-prone and complicated. To clarify, are you using QuickBooks Payments? I'll help you turn off the auto-match feature.

Follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Merchant Service Center
  2. Click on Deposit Settings.
  3. Under Other controls, select Auto match & record is turned on. This will turn off the feature.
  4. Once done, click Save Settings.

You'll also want to turn on the Suggested Categorization option in your bank feeds. This way, you'll be notified if there are transactions that match.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select Banking.
  2. Select your bank account.
  3. Click the Gear icon beside the Export icon.
  4. Put a checkmark beside Enable suggested Categorization.
  5. Click anywhere on the screen to apply the changes.

I've included some articles below that you may find handy:

Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns about this process, @treesnative. I'll be here every step of the way. Take care and have a wonderful day ahead.
