We are expanding from 1 Warehouse to 3. How do we track the quantities since 1 SKU can be in 3 warehouses at the same time. Location and Class fields are already in use

Location fields are used to track Revenue by Province (CRA requirement). Class field is used to track sales by Market place. Can QBO track multiple warehouses?

You need an additional app to do so.

Hi there, CMOE.

I agree with what Fiat mentioned about integrating third-party applications. Since QuickBooks Online currently doesn't have the feature to track multiple warehouses.

However, we do have the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. This product offers industry-specific features such as Advanced Inventory. That being said, it can help you track inventory items, purchase orders, or packed items from warehouses to complete sales orders.

It also supports several mobile barcode scanner devices like Zebra TC20, Zebra TC25, Zebra TC51, and even the Zebra MC40 which was discontinued by the manufacturer but are still supported.

You can check out these links that'll surely help and explain more info about its features and set up:

Let me know if you still have questions or clarifications about inventory tracking. Have a great week!

Which app would work to that?

@maleni

You need an inventory management app with multi warehouse feature to integrate with QBO.  The plans are $67/month for 3 users and $125/month for 8 users. I believe this app is one of the cheapest options available in the market. Contact me in private and we will introduce you to them directly.

We are expanding from 1 Warehouse to 3. How do we track the quantities since 1 SKU can be in 3 warehouses at the same time. Location and Class fields are already in use

The primary issue you're encountering is that QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't natively support tracking inventory quantities across multiple warehouses, particularly when the Location and Class fields are already dedicated to other purposes. QBO is primarily focused on financial management and lacks advanced features for detailed inventory tracking across different locations.

Why this happens: QBO is designed to handle financial transactions and reporting, but it falls short when it comes to managing physical inventory across multiple warehouses. This limitation can make it difficult to track quantities accurately without additional tools or workarounds.

Recommended Approach:

  1. Consider Middleware:
    • Implement a third-party solution like Warehouse 15, which can manage inventory across multiple warehouses and integrates seamlessly with QBO.

Why Warehouse 15 can help:

  • Multi-Location Tracking: Efficiently tracks inventory across various warehouses, ensuring accurate stock levels.
  • Mobile Device Compatibility: Allows inventory management using Android devices, which QBO does not support.
  • Real-Time Synchronization: Keeps QBO updated with precise, real-time inventory data, addressing the gaps in QBO's native functionality.

For a comprehensive solution, take a look at Cleverence Warehouse 15. This app can help you bridge QBO’s limitations and improve your inventory management across multiple locations.

Hope this helps!
