Credit card reader just stops working

My credit card reader just stops working. I need to unplug it and plug it back in. Sometimes it takes up to 30 min to restart. I've lost customers because of this.

Credit card reader just stops working

Hi @CigarShopGuy1,

Let's fix your card reader connection real quick, so you can go back to business.

The reconnection of the card reader itself is one of the steps you can take. I appreciate you for providing that detail. You can take a look at this article to view other steps you can do to resolve this issue: Fix issues with the GoPayment and QuickBooks mobile app card reader

If you already went through the steps listed in the article above and continue to experience the same issue, then see this article: Order a card reader for QuickBooks GoPayment. It has several sets of steps depending on the type of GoPayment app you have.

You're always welcome to post here in the Community if you have other concerns. I'll take care of them for you.

Credit card reader just stops working

And this isn't for the app this is for the brand new credit card reader QuickBooks just sent me. It's directly attached to my computer. It's brand new and just locks up. I need to restart my quickbooks pos and sometimes my computer and unplug the credit card reader.

Credit card reader just stops working

This isn't the kind of experience we want you to have using our QuickBooks Point of Sale credit card reader, @CigarShopGuy1. That's why I'm here to guide you on what to do with the device.

It looks like you've already performed all the possible troubleshooting steps in fixing the credit card reader issue. You may have received faulty hardware that's why it locks up whenever you use it. With this, you have the option to return it to us. Just make sure it's still within 60 days of purchase.

I'd recommend returning products using a traceable method. When shipping via USPS, consider using registered or certified mail, or a return receipt. This is to easily track the credit card reader's whereabouts. You'll have to fill out the QuickBooks Return Form and send the hardware to the address stated in this article's Return QuickBooks purchased direct from Intuit section: Return a QuickBooks product. It also includes details about refunds and other policies.

You can also read through this article to learn more about QuickBooks return policy: QuickBooks Guarantee.

In the meantime, you can visit this website: QBDT POS Resource Hub. It provides articles about hardware installation, managing your data, processing payments, and using financial exchange in the software.

I'll be right here to help if you need further assistance. Take care always, @CigarShopGuy1.
