I am an accountant user for several QBO Clients,  Their merchant accounts are linked to my QBO and QBD Accountant accounts.  Why?

Hello there, @MJBsBooks!

Before we can accomplish your goal for today, may I ask for more details about the merchant account of your clients?

Ideally, a Merchant Services account can only be linked to one QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop but not both. How are these accounts linked to each of your accountant accounts?

Keep me updated in the comments below. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care always!

I have both QuickBooks Accountant 2022 Desktop, and QuickBooks Accountant online (ProAdvisor). QBO Clients invite me using my ProAdvisor account.  My account ID is my email which may be the problem. It was changed to that by Intuit.  When I log into the Merchant Center I see the attached.

I have steps here on how to return your Account ID to an email, @MJBsBooks. Happy to walk you through the steps.

I'll make sure your account ID gets corrected on QuickBooks. In this way, your clients can invite you seamlessly. Then you can accept the invitation without delay.

To do this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Sign to the accounts.intuit.com using your QuickBooks credentials.
  2. Select the Sign-in & security tab.
  3. Click your User or Account ID and modify it.
  4. Log out and re-login to flow the updated information.

Once done, let your client re-invite you using the updated email. If they need steps, give this link to them for reference: Managing accountant users in QuickBooks. After that, accept the invitation right away. If you've run into problems, visit this article for troubleshooting steps: What to do if you can't accept client invites in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

In addition, check out the articles below to learn how to access the Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs) and correct missing client's in QuickBooks:

Add a response below if you have follow-up questions or need extra help handling your clients. I'm happy to assist you again. Have a nice day ahead, MJBsBooks.

What will that do?   If they invite me with a new ID then I will still see their merchant IDs under that ID.

Thanks for coming back to the Community, MJBsBooks.

Let me provide some information about adding accountant access in QuickBooks.

When your client invites you with the same user type, you’ll still be able to see their merchant ID. This is because you have permission to all features available in the online program.

I can see that my colleague already shared this article, but I’m adding it again for additional resources: Managing accountant users in QuickBooks Online. It outlines the complete details on what you can do in your clients' company.

The links below list all the tools to enhance your bookkeeping and instructions on how to manage access rights and roles in QuickBooks.

Reach out to me again if you have additional questions about managing your user access. I’m more than happy to answer them for you. Have a great rest of your day.

In my QuickBooks Accountant Desktop, when I try to add Merchant Services, why does it ask me to link to one of my Client's Merchant Accounts?

Hello there, @MJBsBooks. I appreciate you for getting back here.

I'd like to provide a possible scenario of why it's happening on your end.

It could be that you've opened or accessed your client's QuickBooks account at the moment you set up payments. That's why it asks you to link to one of your client's merchant accounts.

If that's the case, make sure to access the correct account. Then, proceed with the steps of connecting your QuickBooks Payments account to QuickBooks Desktop. I'd recommend using this article as a reference when going through the process: Connect your QuickBooks Payments account to QuickBooks Desktop.

I've also included an article that will help you in managing customer payments for online invoices and in-person sales:

Please let us know how it works. We'll be around to assist you. Stay safe and be well, MJBsBooks.

I really am weary of repeating myself.  I have received several different responses from several different people resulting in piecemeal support but no definitive answers.  I am done. Moving to Square, they are better priced as well.  Please close this case.
