Searching for Deposits

I need to make some adjustments to payments and need to locate the deposits that were months ago. When i go to make deposits as of now the only way i know to find the date I am looking for is to continuously click "previous" until i find the desired date and deposit.

Are there any other quicker ways to search for deposits by date or customer.

Thank you

Searching for Deposits

We can pull up and customize the Deposit Detail report, DanCon91.

This way, we'll be able to easily see your past deposits and the transactions you combined with them. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select the Banking tab.
  3. Choose the Deposit Detail report.
  4. Click Customize Report.
  5. On the Display tab, select the columns you'd like to see on the report.
  6. Click the Filter tab to choose the customers and date you'd like to see.
  7. Once done, click on OK.

To know more on how to personalize reports in QuickBooks Desktop, please see this article: Customize Reports.

You can also check out this article to learn the other things you can do on your deposits:  Record and Make Bank Deposits.

Additionally, I've added an article that'll help you save the current customized setting of the report. This helps you easily access them in the future: Memorized Reports.

I'll be glad to help you again if you have more questions about running reports. I want to ensure everything is taken care of.

Searching for Deposits

Hi,

I was apply to pull the search results (although not by customer) by date.

The issue is I not only need to locate the deposits but i needed to delete the deposits so i can make adjustments and apply a portion of the payments to another account.

Pull the deposit detail seems to only show me the deposits but does not allow me to delete and change anything from the report.

Searching for Deposits

I found that slicking on the deposit date itself brings me to the make deposit screen i needed to get to.

This saves me so much time and work.

Thank you very much!

Thank you for the tip!  I've also had to "click back" through multiple deposits and have not been able to find a shortcut. This helps tremendously.

Searching for Deposits

Let me help you find it, Cw6546.

The Banking section is under Employees & Payroll. Then, from there, you can pull up the Deposit Detail report.

In your case, since you're unable to find Banking, it can be your file is corrupted. Let's run the Verify/Rebuild utility to detect the data damage. Here's how:

  1. Click File.
  2. Go to Utilities, then choose Verify Data.
  3. If QuickBooks detected no problems, there's no further action needed. If you receive a message, "Your data has lost integrity," the file is damaged. Just continue to Rebuild Data to correct the problem.
  4. When you Rebuild Data, you'll receive a message to back up your company file, just click OK. The utility starts as soon as the backup is finished.
  5. Click OK when you get the message "Rebuild has completed."
  6. Run Verify Data again to check for remaining data damage.

Once done, check if you can see the Banking section. However, if it didn't make any difference, you can use the QuickBooks File Doctor to fix your company file.

Get back to this thread if you need more help. We're one comment away. Take care!

Searching for Deposits

In QuickBooks Online:

If you have to edit a deposit you created, you would have to find it and and first delete it and start a new one.

Me for example I accidently put it was coming out of a wrong bank account, and I had to go back and find it, luckily for me I found it in the banking screen, and it was wanting to be match to another deposit, I clicked on it from there and unselected items, and then deleted it. I then had to make another one with the corrections I needed.

Its frustrating, and you would think there is a button for deposits being created in QBO, but I don't see it.

Upon further investigation I believe you can find the deposits under.....
