When attempting to export time from Quickbooks Time to Quickbooks Desktop after the recent Quickbooks Desktop update, we are getting errors such as : "[Employee Name] Aug 1: Error exporting 5.00 hours, the user doesn't have any payroll items assigned. Use the Payroll Item Mapping Tool to assign payroll items to this user and then re-export the time." Research says that the Payroll Item Mapping Tool requires a Quickbooks Desktop Payroll subscription, which we have no interest in purchasing.
Is there any way to export time to Quickbooks Desktop without involving the Payroll Item Mapping Tool? I have tried unchecking the "Use time data to create paychecks" option in each employee profile, and deactivating the Payroll from Edit>Preferences>Payroll & Employees>Company Preferences> No Payroll. Neither had any effect on the error.

Got in touch with Quickbooks support via chat. After being redirected twice (!) the tech who helped me said to do the following (this only works if you use the Quickbooks Web Connector)
After doing this, I had to go into Quickbooks Desktop then go into the Employees menu> Employee Center > [Employee]> The pencil to the right of the "Employee Information" > Payroll Info tab > Then add Item names into the Earnings table. This added payroll items into Quickbookstime without the need for a premium subscription.
I hope this helps future users of Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks time.

I'm having the same problem which has not been answered by in the Quickbooks team response above.
nyba225 specifically stated in the subject and body of the question that the solution needed to avoid using the Payroll Mapping tool as that resource is not available without additional subscriptions. The Quickbooks team response states, "Otherwise, you can manually assign payroll items for each employee." which would mean there is an answer to the question nyba225 raised. In attempts to resolve the issue using a manually assigned option, this, too, appears to be a dead end in recent QB updates.
Please provide a specific resolution and instruction how to "manually assign payroll items" in order to use QuickbooksTime without a Payroll subscription.
