I am a new user to Quickbooks and was informed during the sales process that with Quickbooks Online Advanced I would be able to enter Weekly and Single Activity Timesheets for contractors that I have setup as Vendors. When I go to Time --> Time Entries I only see the option to "Add Time" for employees. I have a couple vendors created but can not figure out how to enter time for them and I don't want to set them up as Employees because they are Contractors. From the help articles, it looks like there should be options for Weekly and Single Activity Time sheets. Any help is appreciated.
Thank You

Good Morning,
Thank you for the response. However, when I follow those instructions I do not see the options that you stated should be there. I am attaching a screen shot of what I see in my account.
Thanks,
Chad
Thanks for trying out the steps provided by my peer above, Chad. We can figure this out together.
You should have the option if you purchased Payroll Core. If you purchased Payroll Premium or Elite, you should have the Time tab functionality on the left navigation menu to track time for your vendors. Let's try opening your account using a private browser.
There are times that your browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, causing QuickBooks Online (QBO) to act strange.
You can refer to these shortcut keys:
If it works, I'd suggest clearing your regular browser's cache to eliminate excessive files in your browser. Otherwise, use another supported browser as an alternative.
Also, I've added an article to learn more information about tracking and managing timesheets in QBO: Track and manage timesheets in QuickBooks Online.
I'm always here if you need more help managing your timesheets.
I'm having the same problem as the original poster. Is this function available if I don't have payroll (since I don't have any employees, I don't need it). I have quickbooks essentials, so I have basic time tracking. None of the solutions listed here are working for me, so I am just wondering if I don't even have this function. Thanks!!!!
I appreciate that you've joined the thread about entering timesheets for vendors, @Gabalot. Rest assured, I can help you view this ability.
Usually, QuickBooks Essentials do have the timesheets feature from other regions like Singapore, Mexico, Hongkong, and other countries. By clicking the + New button on the upper left, you'll have the option to do a Single time activity or choose the Weekly timesheet.
I've added screenshots for visual reference. From there, you can create a timesheet for a contractor/vendor with their specific working period (checking the Enter Start and End Times box):
Single time activity
Weekly Timesheet
In the US version of QuickBooks Online Essentials (QBO), the Time entry feature will give you the basic ability to add contractor/vendor/customer working period. Feel free to read this information for more details: Track and manage timesheets in QuickBooks Online.
If the Time entries feature doesn't allow you to add contractor or vendor time, I suggest contacting our QBO Care Support team. From there, they can look into this in a secure session by pulling up your account.
I hope I make it easier for you to share a bit of information. If you have other concerns with adding time for contractors/vendors, feel free to comment below. I'm always here to help. Take care and have a great weekend!
Hello,
Did anyone get this to work? I am having the same issue - I do not see the options mentioned under New, Employees. I only see Employees, Time Entry. From there, I can add an employee, but when I do, I get a message saying the Something is not right, this employee is already a vendor. I have called help 4 times this morning and no one knows what to do. I am using QBO Advanced. Thanks, Kelly
Welcome to the Community, Kelly.
I'd like to help you get your timesheet issues sorted out.
Have you tried performing the browser troubleshooting steps shared by GlinetteC? If not yet, you can do so. It can help us verify if the issue is by cache files stored in your main browser.
If the issue persists, I still suggest reaching out to our Phone Support Team again. I know you have called them already but it will help us further look into the root cause of why you're receiving the error. We can open an investigation so our engineers can check on it.
While we look into the issue, you can click out the Community Help Articles page in case you need more help in managing your vendors and employees.
Feel free to drop a comment below if you have questions about posting transactions in QBO. I'll be right here to lend a helping hand. Have a good one.
Yes I did try and I am still not getting the options I need under New, Employees. I have talked to 5 different support folks today and no one can figure it out. Spent about 4 hours so far with various support folks on the phone.
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, @ kaburns03. Let me help you with your query.
You'll need to add a special character to a new vendor, if their name already exists in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company.
Follow the steps below to see the Single time activity and Weekly timesheet options:
Once done, you’ll be able to see the Single time activity and Weekly timesheet under Employees column.

Hello,
I don't know know what you mean about "employee column". If I go to my account and settings, billing and subscription, learn more about payroll, I don't get an option for a free trial. Only paid plans.
Kelly
Good morning, kaburns03.
Thanks for following up on this thread. I'd be glad to provide some additional info about QuickBooks Payroll.
Since you weren't given the free trial option through the steps mentioned above, I recommend visiting the QuickBooks Online Payroll site. Here you can toggle to view available options for signing up today or beginning your free 30 day trial.
Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you have any other questions for me. I'm always happy to help.
I'm having the same issue as the people above. I spoke to a customer service rep and they told me it was only possible if I also bought time tracking for an extra $20+/month. I signed up for the free trial, and I still do not have the option to let vendors enter hours. Did anybody else find a solution for this?
Thanks for checking in with us, frollins.
I appreciate you for contacting our support, providing us a screenshot, and signing up for a free trial for time tracking. We also have the option to track time for your vendors if you purchased Payroll Core, Payroll Premium, or Elite, where there's a Time tab functionality on the left navigation menu. We can try signing in to your QuickBooks Online account using a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues. Here's how:
Once you get there, follow the steps provided by DivinaMercy_N to enter time activities for your vendors. If it's working fine, we'll have to go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to eliminate the junk files. We can also use supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue. It could be the one you're currently using right now has a temporary problem with QBO. Here's an article for more details about tracking and managing timesheets in QuickBooks Online.
If the Time entries feature doesn't allow you to add contractor or vendor time, I suggest contacting our QBO Care Support team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and help you with this one. To ensure we address your concern, our representatives are available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Saturdays, PST. See our support hours and types for more details about this one.
Visit our QuickBooks Time page for more insights about managing your business time entries.
Feel free to update us after performing the steps or contacting our support in the comment below. I'd like to ensure this is resolved for you. You have a good one.
