1099 NEC printing issues

I'm having two issues that I can't find solutions for when printing 1099 NEC's out of QB Online:

The payer company name prints too high, it's printing on top of text on the form, so it's unreadable.  There is a space between the company name and the address, so there's plenty of room.

It prints the company phone number under the address.  I don't want to print the phone number on the 1099's.  The solution I found was to take the phone number out of the Contact Info under Accounts and Settings, but QBO won't let me.  It insists I put in a phone number.

Any help is much appreciated!!

1099 NEC printing issues

Let me take care of your concern today, JS12345.

I will break your question down a bit so we can make sure we are covering everything so we can get the answers you are looking for.

For the payer company name that prints too high, you'll want to align it by going back to the 1099 form editing it, and clicking on the "No, it doesn't line up" button.

Here's how:

    1. Click Finish preparing 1099s.
    2. Select I'll file myself.
    3. Select 1099 form and print a sample page, then select either:
        * No, it doesn't line up: If the info does not line up the form correctly.
        * Yes, looks good!: If the form aligns properly.
    4. Once the form is aligned, click Next
    5. Click Done to complete printing 1099.

Please feel free to read this article for your reference: Set Up Printing Alignment for 1099 Tax Forms.

Take a look at this article for more information: Print 1099 forms.

For your concern about the company phone number printed on the form, this is a default feature. The phone number in your company profile is the same information that will appear on your 1099 forms.

So there is no way to not print the phone number on the 1099?  OK, annoying, but I guess we can live with it.

As for the printing problem, it's not an alignment issue.  Everything else on the form is aligned perfectly, so if I adjust the alignment to fix the payer name, everything else will print too low.

1099 NEC printing issues

Welcome back, JS12345.

I appreciate you for sharing your sentiments about the unavailable option to remove the phone number on the 1099 form. This form is based on the IRS standard format.

On the other hand, since it's only the payer company name that prints too high, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Care Team. This needs further investigation so our team can take a closer look and come up with a solution to correct the alignments.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the upper right.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern.
  4. Click Let’s talk.
  5. Choose Get a callback
  6. Type in your contact info.
  7. Select Confirm my call.

1099 NEC printing issues

Well, I just got off the phone with a QB rep who was very nice but didn't seem to know any more than I did about how to fix this.  My next option is to create desktop files and print from there but that is really a lot of extra work.  This seems to be a behind-the-scenes issue, is there any way I can speak to one of those people?  Or at least can this be passed along to one of those people to look at?  Thanks
