2021 QuickBooks Desktop prints 2 part 1099 NEC forms

We are running on QuickBooks Premier Contractor edition 2018, not Enterprise.  Is there a fix for this version of QuickBooks?

I need to print 3 to a page. I followed your instructions. There was nothing new to install on the critical fixes and it still is showing 2 to a page.

I have updated my desktop 2020 version and continue to see 2 part 1099 only. Please help.

Friends, I feel your pain. Have been dealing with this issue on my colleagues' computers all afternoon. Having just successfully "fixed" this issue on two computers, I thought that I'd share what worked on both of those machines. Perhaps it will be a fix for a few of you. I know that this will sound like a repeat of the same old fix that hasn't worked for most of you, but there is something about the order in which it's done that has worked for me.

1. Update QuickBooks, making sure to check the Reset Updates box on the Update Now tab.

2. Update the payroll subscription.

3. Close QuickBooks and run the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Click on the Program Problems tab and Quick Fix My Program. There is a link to the QBTH in a previous post on this thread.

4. Open QuickBooks as with Administrator privileges. (Right-click on the icon and select Run as Administrator.) In my environment, I was unable to open a company file when I ran as Administrator, but I could see that the program was updating as it was opening. So, I did not open a company file. Once the program opened, I closed it.

5. Open QuickBooks as normal and open your company file.

I am sure that this will not be a panacea for every single one of you, but this worked for me today on two separate computers, when I followed these exact steps in this exact order. I truly hope it helps someone.

Hard to believe a new 1099-NEC is not accommodated.

I have followed the instructions for critical updates & restarting.

1099 NECs still print two per page.

Any guidance?

Let's make sure to fix this issue, 4382004.

 

I know how you want to resolve this at the soonest possible time. As enumerated by @JamesBCPA above, those possible fixes may have worked for others and to some may not. You'll just have to make sure to update QuickBooks to the latest release. I've outlined the steps below:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Update Now tab. Tip: You can select the Reset Update checkbox to clear all previous update downloads.
  3. Select Get Updates to start the download.
  4. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.
  5. When prompted, accept the option to install the new release.

 

Also, make sure to get the latest payroll tax table. Then, you can follow the rest of the steps mentioned if it still doesn't work. However, if it's still printing two per page, I suggest reaching out to our support team so they can double-check this further. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment.

i don't think i was very clear in my last reply to the issue of printing 1099-NECs in QBDT21. i have only two clients in QBDT21 and about 10 in QBDT19. the 1099-NECs 3 to a page printed successfully out of QBDT19 but not in QBDT21. the 1099-MISC 2 to a page printed fine in QBDT21 so i am guessing it's the 3 to a page issue for the 1099-NECs which QBs says is solved by doing the critical update. i have done the update and it has not solved my problem.is anyone else having this issue in QBDT2021? i was going to update all clients but now am not so sure i want to move forward. QBDT19 seems to be working just fine for now!

Have you tried out the steps provided by my peers above, like updating QuickBooks to its newest release version and downloading the latest payroll tax table?

 

If so, let's run the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. This tool will help us resolve common printing issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

 

Before we proceed, let's download the QuickBooks Tool Hub first. Here's how to do it:

 

  1. Close QBDT.
  2. Download the most recent version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save it somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop).
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub once the installation is complete.

 

Once done, open the Tool Hub to run the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Program Problems.
  2. Select QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool

To all of our customers, like you, who are having trouble printing 1099s, the supposed fix where to install QuickBooks' latest released versions. Press the F2 key on your keyboard and review the list below for reference.

 

QuickBooks for Windows:

 

  • QuickBooks 2022/Enterprise 22 - R3_71 (or later)
  • QuickBooks 2021/Enterprise 21 - R8_62 (or later)
  • QuickBooks 2020/Enterprise 20 - RR13_39 (or later)
  • QuickBooks 2019/Enterprise 19 - R16_55 (or later)

 

QuickBooks for Mac:

 

  • QuickBooks Mac Plus 2022 R4 (or later)
  • QuickBooks Mac 2021 R8 (or later)
  • QuickBooks Mac 2020 - update coming soon
  • QuickBooks Mac 2019 - update coming soon

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.

  6. Select Search.

When you update your QB, make sure to click on "Update now" and then check "Reset update". If you don't check "Reset update", you can't be able to get the latest updated 1099 to print 3 page tops.

You may have to exit from quick and log in to check it

Just tried to print out 1099 NEC for 2021 in my 2022 version of QB online, and it is only showing 2 to a page when the tax forms have 3 to a page. I have all the latest updates, so that is not the issue.
