Nope does not work. Beyond frustrated..
How did you manage to get someone on the phone?
This is still not true and it is January 27, 2022.
I GOT IT!! Just in time…updated, per these instructions to include ALL, then closed out of QB, restarted the computer then logged in as “Administrator”, by right-clicking the QB icon on the desktop, and it worked.
I have Quick Books Desktop 2020 and have followed your instructions for update for 1099 NEC 3 part forms. Says "nothing new downloaded" so I closed QB and restarted no updates. Are you not supporting QB 2020 anymore? Any other way to get this update?
thank you
i will try it!!!!
Thanks Moclips! 1099 wizard had NEC settings correct, but company preferences were all defaulted to "omit". Once I mapped accounts under the company preferences, the 1099 NECs printed. Recipient address was slightly off so city/st/zip don't show in window envelope...hand addressed envelopes and called it good.
I have performed the step by step procedure 5 times now including a full re-boot of my system. I still can't get the 1099 NEC form to print in 3 parts. I am beyond frustrated.
When will the option to print 1099 NEC forms 3 to a page be available. This waiting until the last minute is ridiculous and will lose you customers. Using the pay per form option is not an option for us. What is going on?
A very frustrated user
Hello everyone!
QuickBooks Desktop already supports 3 part 1099-NEC. You'll just need to update your QuickBooks Desktop to have the latest features including the 1099-NEC.
You'll want to verify the release version of your QuickBooks Desktop. Press the F2 button on your keyboard to see the details. Below are the releases required to print 1099 NEC forms in QuickBooks Desktop Windows:

pfclifton @ others that cannot print 3 per page? I am happy to help you, but I am using QB 2021, not 2022. I am not sure if the same "fix" for 2021 will work for you. Are you able to provide me your email address and I can communicate that way? From Wendy, a long-time bookkeeper who just wants to help others.
Do this on attached screenshot, under qb updates - I had same issue today when trying to print from 2020 (I first used the roll-back update in my 2021 for those clients I have in that year, but then apparently the 2020 reverted to it's old, bad ways - I have 22 clients that I had successfully printed before it reverted) SOOOO annoying. Wendy
This solution to download the latest release is not working to print 3 to a page in version 2021. It's still only printing 2 to a page. In addition, when I go through all the mapping and get to the page where it says Print 1099s and the date range comes up, it shows 01/01/21 to 12/31/21 but a note above it says to pick a date between 1/1/20 and 12/31/20. And it will not print 3 to a page.
Help...we are running out of time.
This is not solved. I've downloaded the latest releases in version 2021 and it still only prints 2 to a page instead of 3 for the 1099NEC. AAAAHHH!!!!!
The program has a notation when I go through the wizard and get to the print 1099NEC forms. Above the dates to be included of 1/1/21 to 12/31/21 there is a note that I must pick a starting date between 1/1/20 and 12/31/20. This could be part of the problem. It doesn't do that when I try to print the 1099MISC.
I know how frustrating this can be, Barbara. I’ll make sure you’ll be able to print your 1099 form in the new format.

On the critical fixes, my QB shows "Nothing New Downloaded"
I am using QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020. I did the update twice as you suggested in this same question for 2021 software version. I am still having the trouble. Is it possible to make this work in QB Desktop Pro 2020?
I am using 2020 Desktop Pro. I did not get a message to install updates when I restarted QB. Help! I downloaded updates twice - I restarted QB three times. I did a hard boot. Now when I try to print 1099-NEC forms, I can't print preview.
I followed the steps to update, restarted my PC and printing 1099-NEC still doesn't line up the boxes for TIN numbers, payee's name and address. I am using QB DesktopPro 2021. My accounts were set up previously to print 1099-MISC which I'm replacing with the above 1099.
DESPERATE for help and downloading an extra IRS copy for 1099-NEC...I ran out of the ones I bought.
Thanks
How did you manage to print the 1099-NEC on desktop? I still can't print so it lines up...
Nice to have you joined this thread everyone, @Leigh19, @lisayjones, and @djamai.
I recognize the importance of printing your 1099s in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). I've got a couple of steps that we can perform to isolate this issue so you can print your 1099s seamlessly.
Before we begin, there are a few things you must keep in mind:
Since there are no new downloads in the Critical Fixes section, I recommend enabling the Reset Updates option. This fixes issues related to any critical update.
Enabling the Reset option is critical if you've recently run updates in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). I'll show you how.
You can also use this article for more details: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
I've also added these resources for additional reference about printing your 1099s:
In case you want to learn how to check the status of your submitted forms, you can refer to this link for the complete steps: Check e-file or e-pay status in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced.
I'll be around if you have any other questions about printing your 1099s or about QBDT. The Community is always open to assist you. Keep safe everyone!
I have followed these steps:
However, when I restarted QB, there was no question about installing updates. My 1099-NEC information is all correct, but when I try to print 1099-NEC forms, I get this error - see attached.
I will do another hard boot of my computer to see if that solves the problem. However, since I only had four forms to print, I just used the fillable form on the IRS website. I still need to print the ones to send to the IRS, so I will continue this process.
I am so frustrated! I did a hard boot, and I am still getting the same error = Based on your 1099 Setup - no 1099 Vendors have sufficient payments for this period to receive a 1099-MISC form. I received that while trying to print 1099-NEC, so I tried to do 1099-MISC. I received the same error.
I went back to each vendor (thank goodness I only have four who need 1099-NEC forms). I had to recheck the box that says vendor is eligible for a 1099. I still have the same error. Is it possible I need to adjust the threshold for 1099's? I ran a 1099 Summary report both with the thresholds and ignoring the thresholds and these four vendors appear. The data is there, it just can't be printed.
