Changing the profile types such as Vendor to Employee or vice versa is not possible in QuickBooks Online. We can leave the vendor profile active if you still use it and create a new one for the employee.
If you need to make the vendor profile inactive, you can follow these steps:
When you create a new employee profile, make sure it is not identical to the vendor name. Here's how to do it:
After that, we can already run payroll for the employee.
You can always get back to us if you require additional assistance with this.
If you follow the advice given by @JamesDuanT you will lose the ability to view current transactions of the vendor before or after they became an employee. Instead, append a period to their name as vendor and then add them as employer (restriction against duplicate names)
Hi,
when i create a new employee record in quickbooks desktop, will the employee show up in Tsheets? They were previously a vendor in Quickbooks and have already an account in Tsheets. Will they need to reinvited? Can it use the same account?
Thanks
Thanks for posting here, harandra,
Yes, you're right. We'll have to create these new employees and invite them to have their accounts in Tsheets. Then, we can integrate them into your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account.
Let's first set up your new employee and add their information to your QBDT account. You may refer to this article to guide you with the complete steps in adding them: Add your new employee to QuickBooks Payroll.
Once done, we can integrate your Tsheets account to QBDT using the Web Connector. Beforehand, please make sure that these steps are only compatible with QuickBooks for Windows. To guide you further with the detailed steps and information, you can refer to this article: Integrate TSheets and QuickBooks Desktop using the Web Connector.
Moreover, I'm adding this reference to guide you in mapping payroll items from QuickBooks Time to QuickBooks: Map QuickBooks payroll items in QuickBooks Time.
Feel free to reply in the comments below if you have additional questions about integrating Tsheets with QuickBooks. We'll be delighted to assist you. Have a good one!
