Did something change with QBO? Starting today, when I enter checks or deposits, in the "account" field, I used to be able to get that to autopopulate but now it doesn't

In the Account field there are only my bank accounts and I have to click "Add or See more Categories" and then a sidebar opens with my complete Chart of Accounts. It is super clunky and I am hoping there is a way to undo this change. Any tips or advice appreciated!

Thanks for dropping by here today, @brattlefilm. I'll share an insight about the auto-populating feature and the current display inside QuickBooks Online (QBO).

As I've checked here, when you enter a check or deposit inside the company, you can only auto-populate the category and item details. However, for the Bank Account section, you'll need to choose manually the appropriate bank account you want to use for the transaction.

Also, I'd like to share that the program offers two different perspectives on handling your business. You can utilize the Accountant view and the Business view

You can consider checking this feature and see what works well for you to focus on handling your business more.

Feel free to visit this page for more information: Switch between Business and Accountant view in QuickBooks Online.

I've got you this article to help you manage payments inside QBO: Take and process payments in QuickBooks Online with QuickBooks Payments.

If you got time to spare, I'd also recommend checking this page about modifying and adding details to your reports in QBO: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

It is the same in Accountant view so that doesn't fix this. Is there a way to report this as a bug or an issue?

The reason this is an issue is that most of my deposits are at least 4 or 5 lines (coming from various customers) but sometimes I have deposits that are 40 lines (!) and to have to go through this process for each line will be a big issues for workflow. It isn't even possible to copy and paste from one line to another.

Hey there, @brattlefilm

Thanks for reaching back out and letting us know those steps didn't help.

Since the issue still occurs after trying the instructions my colleague provided, I recommend contacting our Customer Support Team to review your account with you. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Press the Contact Us button/hyperlink.
  3. Enter your question and tap Let's talk
  4. Scroll down and choose to Get a callback

It's that easy!

Keep us updated on how the call goes. We're always here to have your back. Have a splendid day!

@brattlefilm   I have had the same issue.  It is definitely an issue with in QBO.

Clearing browser doesn't help. Incognito doesn't either.

I don't have time to contact QB, as I have too many other things to do, and can't sit on the phone (or a chat) for hours on end.

There has to be a problem with the QBO system.  My chart of accounts is still there when I go directly to it; however, it will not pull up any of my accounts when making a new deposit.  It only is pulling up my bank accounts.
