I have QB Desktop 2017 Are these all compatible with that version?
Can any of these handle a big stack of different sized receipts, some in less than perfect condition?
Hello HawaiiGardener,
We don't have the exact information if these printers can print big stack of different sized receipts. For QuickBooks Desktop, you can print receipts on a short bond paper size (8.5 x 11 inches).
You can try to reach out their support to learn more about their printers specification.
If you need anything else, please let us know. Thank you.
It appears that most of these models of scanners are discontinued models from the Manufacturer. Can we get an updated list?
Hi there, @pbittner.
Thanks for dropping by the Community and for joining this conversation. Allow me to step in for a moment and share some information about barcode scanners that are compatible with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Great news! Any barcode scanner will work with QuickBooks as long as it complies the following formats:
Additionally, you also need to enable the barcode scanning feature on the preferences. This will give you the option to either move your existing barcodes in QBDT into the new Barcode Number field for your items or have QuickBooks create barcodes for items in your list.
Here's how:
1. Go to the Edit menu at the top and pick Preferences on the drop-down.
2. On the left panel, scroll down to Items and Inventory, then go to the Company Preferences tab.
3. Select the Advanced Inventory Settings.
4. Go to Barcodes tab, choose Enable barcode, then Open Barcode Wizard.
5. Decide if you want QuickBooks to create new barcodes for you, then click Next and Finish, then OK on the wizard windows.
6. Choose OK twice to close the Advanced Inventory Settings and the Preferences window.
For your reference, you can also check out this article for further guidance: Use barcode scanning.
That should answer your concern for today. Please let me know in the comment section if you have any follow-up questions so I can get back to you right away. I'm always here to help. Take care and have a great day!
ix500 is a nice scanner but it does not a Twain scanner so it won't work
Are these the only scanners that are compatible or simply the best scanners. I would like to know if a Kyocera 5500i scanner will work.
Welcome to the Community, TammyM12.
Let me provide a little information about the compatibility of the Kyocera 5500i scanner in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you install a new scanner or if you are scanning documents for the first time, you need to set up the QuickBooks Scan Manager for QuickBooks Attached Documents. As long as Kyocera 5500i uses a TWAIN compliant scanner, then it should work with QuickBooks Scan Manager.
See the following article for detailed steps and information: Set up QuickBooks Scan Manager.

I am having issues with scanning documents into QuickBooks enterprise. I presently have a Brother MFC-9970CDW printer. I am looking to purchase another full color printer and was wondering if you can tell me if the Lexmark MC2535adwe printer will work?
Thanks for joining in the conversation, @Doug9.
There's a wide variety of printers you can choose from that works with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. To make sure your new printer-scanner is compatible and works well with QuickBooks, you can run the TWAIN compatibility tool manually.
Stay in touch with me if you have other questions setting up your printer-scanner with QuickBooks Desktop. I'd be happy to help you.
Hi
I have a HP Officejet Pro 6960 trying to get this to work with Scanning, i believe i need a TWAIN driver but cannot find one, i'm currently trying to confirm if in fact there is a TWAIN driver for this printer, do you know if it's compatible?
Thanks
Neal
Thanks for joining this thread, @NJPCIT.
Ideally any printer/scanner should work with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
As mentioned by my colleague @IamjuViel in her answer above, to test if your HP Officejet Pro 6960 has the TWAIN driver, I'd recommend manually running the Quickbook's TWAIN compatibility tool. This tool should give you a message if your all-in-one HP printer is compatible or not.
If you have any difficulty running the tool, you may contact our phone support team. To get their directory number, please follow the steps in this link: Contact the QuickBooks Desktop Customer Support Team.
Let me know if there's anything else you need. I'm still here to help you more. Have a good one.
I'm using QuickBooks Desktop 2019 for Mac, and I have not been able to get the program to recognize any scanner so far (using the Attach then Scan icons). I'd like to use a portable, wireless, rechargeable scanner like the Epson ES-300W. So far, the unrecognized scanners include the following:
Epson ES-300WR
Epson ES-300W
Brother ADS-1700W
These are all TWAIN compliant scanners, and Quickbooks Desktop 2019 for Mac only gets as far as "Looking for scanner..."
Please help me set up the scanner properly or direct me to a list of portable scanners that are know to work with the Mac Desktop software.
Thank you.
Hello parsintrensiac,
We can run the TWAIN compatibility tool to check whether a scanner is compatible with QuickBooks. Here's an article for the executable file: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1253386.
Once done, go ahead and scan a document again. Let us know if you have more questions.
HI,
These scanners are quite dated.
Will any twain compatible scanner like an Epson scanner that supports native TWAIN drivers work such as the
https://epson.ca/For-Home/Scanners/Document-Scanners/WorkForce-ES-500W-Wireless-Duplex-Document-Scan...
or the
https://www.staples.ca/products/2509329-en-epson-workforce-es-400-duplex-document-scanner
Is there an updated list of approved scanners? The reply was dated at the end of 2018 and it is now 2020. Thank you.
It's great to have you here, @doughamill.
There are several document scanners that are compatible with QuickBooks. Currently, I can't provide you with a specific list of approved scanners. Just make sure it's a TWAIN-compliant scanner.
You can read through these articles to learn more on how to scan and attach documents in QuickBooks:
Swing by here if you have other questions with attaching scanned documents in QuickBooks. I'm just a few posts away.
Good Morning,
Can you please tell me if there is an updated list to these scanners/printers that are compatible with QB Enterprise desktop? Some of these listed are very old and no longer available.
Are the below listed compatible?
HP LaserJet M148DW or HP LaserJet M227FDW
Hello Heringer02,
As of right now, we have no updated list of printers aside from the ones listed in this post: https://intuit.me/2TkJXQx . However, our engineers are working hard so QuickBooks will work smoothly with the lastest printers and scanners.
I'll submit a suggestion to our Knowledge Team for you, so they can release a list of compatible scanners and printers in the future.
