How do I change the template on invoices

Customizing your invoice template is available in all QBO versions, Micheal.

You can set up a new template and style it the way you want.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, click Custom Form Styles.
  3. To create a new template, click the New style button in the upper right-hand corner.
  4. Select Invoice.
  5. Go to the Design tab to edit the template name, logo, color, font, and margins.
  6. Go to the Content tab to customize the header, body, and footer of the invoice template.
  7. Click Done when finished.

I've added screenshots too.

It only gives me one template to choose from. Also if I try to edit it, it only lets me edit my logo.

Thanks for visiting the QuickBooks Community, Micheal.

I want to ensure you’re able to select another invoice template and customize it seamlessly.

I have a few steps you can try to fix the issue. Let's make sure that your QuickBooks for Mac is updated to the latest release. This helps resolve any issues you encounter while using the software.

Here's how:

  1. Go to QuickBooks.
  2. Click Check for QuickBooks Updates.
  3. Click Install and Relaunch.

When the update is complete QuickBooks Desktop for Mac will automatically open. To manually update the software, follow the steps outlined in this article and go directly to the Manual update section: QuickBooks Mac Desktop.

Let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I'll get back to make sure this is taken care of. Have a good one.

I have done that.  There is no way for me to remove text saying "Please remit within 30 days to avoid late charges."  And I do not see how to add text if I start with a new template.

I can only edit my moving the text around, not by deleting or editing the existing text.  I have found no way to do that.

Thanks for joining us in this thread, Copakewillow.

Let's try using an incognito browser to determine the cause of this issue. I'm here to help get you back in business in no time.

It could be that a webpage is preventing you from editing and adding a text message on the invoice template. For further isolation, follow these steps:

  • For Internet Explorer of Firefox, press Ctrl Shift P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl Shift N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command Shift N.

If you're able to add a message, clear the cache of your regular browser. This allows QuickBooks Online (QBO) to function more efficiently.

Here's the link for your reference: Clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files.

That should do it. Please let me know how it goes. I'll be here to keep helping. Take care.

That is not correct. There is no pop up window on the Invoice window. There is only the general gear, and it does not allow template editing or selection of any sort.

Hi there, @PAWriter.

The previous post above refers to selecting an invoice template in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

In customizing an invoice template in QuickBooks Online (QBO), you'll want to go to the Gear icon from your Dashboard. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Custom Form Styles.
  3. Click New style to add a new template or select Edit to edit a current template in your QBO.

Here's an article that you can use as reference: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online. This article provides detailed information on personalizing your invoice.

You can also check this article that can guide you in importing your own invoice style to your QBO account: Import custom form styles for invoices or estimates.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with. I'm more than happy to help you anytime. Have a great day!

Has this been addressed? I cannot use any of the invoice templates I've created. When I click + New then Invoice then Customize on the bottom, toggling between my templates does not change the invoice.

How do I change the template on invoices

So I followed the instructions but still not able to create a template. We own a Real Estate brokerage and have 50 agents. We bill them monthly for agent billing. I need to create a two different reoccurring invoice templates (based on what they get billed (different from agent to agent) that goes out at the first of every month to each agent. From what I am seeing, when I try to make the template reoccurring QBO forces me to add customer name. Seems to defeat the purpose of templates - OR am I just missing something?
