Im on quickbooks mobile.
I see no "advanced search" option.
We have a different way of searching old invoices when using the QuickBooks Online mobile application, Irie.
If you're using iPhone, you can follow these steps to search for old invoices:
If you're using Android, here's how to search the invoices:
I've also added screenshots for your reference.
I'll be around if you need more help in searching the invoices.
So to clarify.. On IOS mobile, the search function essentially only searches for invoice # or customer..
Is that correct? I am unable to produce results searching for terms in the “memo” or “customer message” fields.
This is by far my single biggest complaint about Quickbooks.
Thanks for joining in on the thread, Davylinhardt.
With the new QuickBooks Online mobile app, you can already search using the terms associated to the invoices. You can also use the Sort or Filter options depending on the you're in.
For example, you're in the Invoices page. We can filter the invoices by status; Need attention, Overdue, Open, Paid, or All. Then, you can already search the terms in the Search field. You can use the terms such as invoice amounts, invoice numbers, description of an item, customer name, messages, attachment name, etc.
Make sure the app is always updated to ensure that it syncs your QBO data properly.
You might also want to see what other features are available on the mobile app. You can use this link for reference: Compare mobile app features.

I am on desktop and I cannot get the "advanced search" to function. When I click the link the search window/drop-down goes away as though something is going to happen, but alas nothing does. I've tried clearing all kinds of cookies, histories, other garbage, but I still can't manage to get that link to do anything.
I do appreciate the steps you've performed to get the Advanced Search working, Alert SIx Ltd.
Aside from clearing the app's cache (Help > Reset App Data), we can try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Then, use the Advanced Search option to look for old transactions. You can use this link to download the app for QuickBooks Online.
Meantime, you can use one of our supported browsers to manage your transactions. For more details you can check out these articles:

I should have specified. I am not using the desktop app. I am using QuickBooks online in a browser.
I should specify. I don't use the desktop app. This is from QuickBooks Online in a browser. More specifically Chrome.
Thank you so much for sharing those details, Alert SIx Ltd. I would like for you to test something for me to rule out any browser-related issues. Open a private browser, log into your online account, and select that Advanced Search option. Below is the short cut option to do this.
If you can get the link to work, this indicates that your cache needs to be clear due to some form of data corruption. The instruction for how to do that for Google Chrome can be found in the article. However, with Quickbooks Online, there are other ways to search for transactions. You could do this by customer name, vendor name, and transaction type. Here's how for each:
Customer Name
Vendor Name
Transaction Type (Sales)
Transaction Type (Expenses)

Hello guys,
I am using QuickBooks mobile App for iPhone. If I go to "Invoices" and try to search for the old invoice, it doesn't show up, but it actually does exist in the system. If I search same invoice in the desktop, it does show in the search results. I investigated it further and found that iPhone app only search the invoices that are showing in the listing page. So if we scroll down and get more invoices listed in the app, it will start showing the invoice. Looks like invoice searching is not realtime from the servers. Please advice. Thanks
