Is anyone else have trouble with editing & saving invoice footer text? Intuit Customer Service told me to ask the community because they are useless. Any suggestions?

Whenever I try to update the footer text in my invoice, QB for Mac Desktop doesn't do bupkis. I can edit and save every other single aspect of my invoice template except for the footer. This has only been since the latest update - prior to that I had no troubles. I've contacted Intuit multiple times only to be told to pose the question to the community because they can't help (so why are they there?). My Mac and QB are up to date and on the latest OS versions. I've tried creating a brand new invoice template and it will save everything, but once I enter the "Add footer text" box it won't save anything and will only allow me to exit without saving. This problem wasn't a problem before the most recent QB update. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, do you have a work-around?

@TJG add a screen shot of where you are. Add footer text box is not in my release.

What version of QuickBooks?  Also post an answer (which won't be an answer of course) and you can add a screen shot

I have added a screenshot (finally it allowed me to attach a screenshot after three weeks). I am operating on QB version 3.3.6-169 (3.3.6-169.169).  I've tried creating new invoice templates. Doesn't work as soon as I click into the footer box - can't save anything. Tried editing existing templates. Doesn't work as soon as I click into the footer box - can't save anything. Re-installed QuickBooks to see if maybe the program had a glitch. Didn't work. Tried using a different laptop to see if maybe something was wrong with mine. Still didn't work. Tried again today to see if anything has changed, nope.  If there is another way to create an invoice template, I'd be ecstatic because I really don't like any of the only five template options available to me.

Similar problem - noticed that a small amount of text in the footer area will save. Managed to get all of our required footer text by copying a few words at a time and saving. Hope this helps.

I experienced the same issue in QuickBooks Online in that the footer text not saving.  On testing, I found that the maximum number of characters that can be saved is approximately 398 characters (with spaces).  Consequently, shortened the footer text and was able to save with no issues.

Welcome to the QuickBooks family, TJG.

Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. I'm here to help save the footer of your invoice template.

To help determine if the problem is template related, you'll need to create a new one. If you're able to successfully save the footer in the new template, it signifies that your existing template is corrupted and need to be recreated.

If you need further help with the template, I'd recommend you add more details about the issue by adding a comment below. I'll be sure to get back to you.

I'm having the same problem. It's amazing to me how poor the response has been from QB regarding this issue.

Intuit Alcaeus - No, it's NOT template related. I have tried multiple times to create a new template, and it goes fine until I get to the footer section. As soon as I click in that box, QuickBooks refuses to save. The only option I have is to exit out and delete all the work I did. I can create a new invoice template as long as I stay completely away from the footer box, but that's not an option.

Perhaps a posting on some social media platform is the only way to get Intuit to address this problem.

I guess so. I've tried calling and emailing, but nothing. I cannot edit the footer in any way using QB - online, my desktop program, or the app. It's frustrating.

It works, but you can only type in 398 characters. I tried that and it's fixed!

Yeah and that is like 4 sentences.  If you type in more than 398 and then try to save it breaks it and won't allow you to do anything but discard all changes.  Even if you delete everything in the box.  It's still a code error.

I'm having trouble saving any changes to my main invoice template. I want to remove the date and change the width of my product description field, yet every time I do this and save it, it goes right back to the way it was. I've tried creating a new template too, and that doesn't work. This is obviously a glitch and I hope QBO fixes it!
