Hello, wshephard.

I appreciate your time in doing the steps provided by my colleagues. I have another solution we can use to resolve the statement printing issue.

This looks like a case of a corrupted statement template. To see if this is the case, you'll want to print a letter size statement using a sample company file. Here's how to switch to a sample file:

  1. Go to the File menu, then choose Close company (or log out from it).
  2. Click the Open a sample file button.
  3. Select a sample company from the list.

Next, print a sample statement and ensure the settings are set for letter size. If it works, let's go back to your regular company file and delete and recreate the statement template. Before doing this, make sure to remember your statement settings.

To delete the template:

  1. Go to the Lists menu
  2. Choose Templates
  3. Find and right-click on your current statement template.
  4. Choose Delete Template

Recreate your statement with the same custom settings. Print a sample to see if the letter size option is working.

I see that one of my colleagues posted this article. You'll want to exhaust all the solutions outlined in it if you haven't already done so.

If it still prints as A5 after doing all the solutions, I recommend contacting our support. They can look at the program and see what's preventing the statement from using the letter size setting. Here's how to reach them:

  1. Go to the Help menu, then select QuickBooks Help (you can also press F1).
  2. Click the Contact us link at the bottom of the Have a question? window.
  3. Choose Solving issues & Error messages then select Common Errors for the topics.
  4. Scroll down, then click the Start a message button (or any other contact options).

Just a quick note, QuickBooks Pro 2017 is no longer supported. The steps might not work for unsupported versions. I recommend upgrading to the latest supported version

After printing the statement successfully, there are a number of customer-related reports you can run. They might be helpful if you're looking to see your customer data and how much you've earned from each of them. You can browse articles to help you pull up a sales report: Sales reports.

You can also check our general support page with articles if you need further assistance with QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm more than happy to hear you out if you have other concerns regarding QuickBooks Desktop. If you have future questions about your customers in the program, you can add a reply below.

I'm here to ensure you're able to adjust your statement's format size, @wshephard.

One of the possible reasons for the statement's size to decrease in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is the printer settings. We can go to the Printer Setup tab to check its size and then make some changes if needed. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to the File menu, and then choose Printer Setup.
  2. Select Statement in the Form Name drop-down .
  3. Click the Options tab and check your statement's paper size. Then, modify it based on your desired size.
  4. Hit OK to confirm the actions made, and then click OK again to save the changes.

Also, you can make use of our QuickBooks Tool Hub file to fix printing issues in QBDT. Please refer to this handy resource for the steps: Fix Printing problems in QBDT.

Fill me in if you have more questions about printing statements or anything else related to QuickBooks. I'd be more than glad to assist you further. Take care and stay safe.

Hi ReyJohn,

Still no luck. All other reports and invoices are printing correctly. Just when I want to print "Statement" for my monthly invoice reminder it will print the size A5 instead of 8.5x11.
I have checked the print settings size in Quickbooks and Windows 10 and it is set correctly. Any other ideas?

Hello there, wshephard,

Allow me to step in and provide one more step so you can print a statement using the 8.5x11 paper size.

After following the steps provided by my colleague @ReyJohn_D, you'll want to click Advanced. Then, select Letter from the Paper Size drop-down, and click OK. The US paper size for Letter is 8.5 x 11 inches. See the attached screenshot below for your visual guide.
