We are a non-profit with many program services. Each program has its own fund which I am tracking through classes. As a result, I am working with sixty-six (66) classes, sub-classes and sub-sub-classes. I need to be able to run my P&L by Class and collapse the sub-sub-classes. It is not efficient to export and hide columns every time I need to know the balance in various funds. Can you help???
Hi Jennifer,
With the number of the classes you have, I can imagine the challenge every time you pull up this report. However, exporting it to Excel is the only way to remove or hide the sub-classes at the moment.
If you have other queries please let me know.

I know accounts can be "rolled-up" for reporting and you might be able to do that with Jobs also.
I feel I should apoligze for saying so but this is a fail..... it should be a simple enough feature to add. plus it's already included in the desktop version. thanks.
This is also something I need. Intuit, please consider adding this feature to QBO!
Please add this feature. We need it
How is this not a feature? Total fail. Please add ASAP!
Hi,
How is this not a thing? PLEASE get this added/fixed ASAP. It is ridiculous that QBO does not support this basic function.
All it takes: A simple "Only show top-level Classes" would solve this and the math/implementation should be easy.
Note: Intuit has a $70B market cap and has been working on QBO for well over a decade and people still have to use the desktop version because you can't get basic functionality working.
Hello, BigSIS.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention here in the Community.
As mentioned by my colleague JessT, the only way to remove or hide the sub-classes is to export them to excel.
I can see how having this additional feature and functionality would be helpful for you and your business. While this feature isn't available, I'd recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. This way, they may consider adding this option to our future product updates.
Here's how:

This is definitely a problem with QBO.
I still do not see this as being resolved with Intuit. Why can we not get an overview report that collapses sub-classes so we can see top tier or 2nd level tier class totals by account?
I can see that the option to run a report that collapses sub-classes is crucial for your business, feelinlikeanidgit.
Rest assured our product engineers are continuously discovering new ways to adapt to our customers’ needs. Your feedback helps our Product Development team determine which feature will be implemented in the next future update.
The change is also based on how popular a specific feature request is. I want you to know that your voice matters and that you being able to use QuickBooks seamlessly is my top priority. I'll be sending feedback based on this interaction to the Product Development Team for determining what we need to implement moving forward to provide you the best QuickBooks experience.
For now, you can also customize some reports to group the information info by class. To do this, go to the top of a report. Then, select Display columns by ▼ (or Group by ▼), then Classes.
You can always run reports to check sales, expenses, or profitability by business segment. This link provides an overview about what reports to use: Run reports by class.
Don't hesitate to post again if you have other QuickBooks concerns. We're always open to provide the information that you need. May your business grow and bring you prosperity!
