Is there a way to attach a bank statement to the reconciliation

I would like to attach my bank or credit card statements to the reconciliation report. It would save having to send our accountants the statements each month when the accounts are reconciled. Is there a way to do this, or a workaround?

Is there a way to attach a bank statement to the reconciliation

Hello, @lindab2810.

I hope your day is going well so far. At this time, the option to attach another document to a reconciliation report isn't available. However, I'm going to personally submit feedback to our Product Developers so they can consider this feature in one of the upcoming releases for QuickBooks.

Here's an extra link that can give you some more information about reports.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. The Community is always here to have your back. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Is there a way to attach a bank statement to the reconciliation

Thank you. I should have mentioned that I am using QBO. I did find a workaround by using Attachments under Lists in the Gear icon. This isn't perfect, because the user, i.e. Accountant, would not necessarily know to look there. I also checked the My Accountant link, and it looks as if we could utilize the shared documents tab there.   Both  are still workarounds. A direct attachment to the reconciliation report would be the ideal solution.

It seems QBO users in Canada can easily attach statements after reconciling accounts.  Would be nice to have that option!

Is there an update to this? I use QBOA and my client has a Plus subscription level. I thought we were supposed to be able to attach statement under this situation, but that column is not there when I go to reconcile/history by account.

Thanks for checking this with us, AUG.

As of this writing, the option to add attachments of bank statements on the reconciliation report is not yet available.

In addition to the article shared by CandiceC, you may want to check out this link for more information about reconciliation process: How to Reconcile an Account: Statements & Records, & More.

The ability to be able to attach statements on the reconciliation is one thing to consider. Suggestions from our customers are important while we're looking for ways to improve the product.

This will be reviewed by our developers to study its benefits before they release it.

In the meantime, I want you to stay updated with the latest QuickBooks news and updates. That said, I encourage you to visit our QuickBooks blog.

Is there a way to attach a bank statement to the reconciliation

This is false @Charies_M. I am a US customer and I can attach a statement after a bank reconciliation. HOWEVER, this is only true if it is a QB Plus (or higher tier) subscription AND they must be a regular retail subscription. Additionally, for some banks they will automatically download and attach the bank statement for you.

I have several wholesale billing clients and I am unable to attach a statement and this feature does not exist. I spent over two hours with tech support and they could not figure it out either, but we did identify that the issue is related to the wholesale vs,. retail ... It would be great to have a developer look into this as the feature is really great and I have been using it for a few months on the clients that have a "retail" subscription.

Also, adding the link to show how to import and attach a statement.

I'm using Quickbooks Online Accountant version. I don't have the "attach statement" option in reconcile on one of three accounts I manage. All three clients connect to the same the same bank and they are all Quickbooks Online Plus with the same dollar amount for the subscription (so retail vs wholesale isn't a variable either.) I have complete privileges on all accounts. We're going all digital for all three accounts in 2021 and I need to be able to attach the statements. I even disconnected and reconnected the account. How can this be fixed.

It looks like you have to connect the bank account to Online Banking, Janimal.

Once it's connected, you can attach the statement manually. You can check the link added by CF11 at the top.

However, if you're still unable to view the feature, I suggest reaching out to our customer care support. A live agent can take a better look at this. Here's how:

  1. Click Help in your QuickBooks Accountant Online.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter "Unable to attach bank statement" in the description field, then click Continue or Let's talk.
  4. Select Messaging.

Please be reminded of our support hours so you can get in touch with an agent.

This account/client IS connected to online banking. Transactions are downloaded and matched daily via the Banking tab. That's not the problem. All three of my clients are connected, they use the same bank, they pay for the exact same level of QBO, at the same cost, and I have the same privileges. I can successfully attach statements to 2 clients' accounts but not the third. There is no other variable. The attachment column is only missing for this client. Picture attached. I will be contacting support. QBO1.jpg

Is there a way to attach a bank statement to the reconciliation

I would like to know the same thing. I have multiple companies, ALL QB PLUS in the U.S. and only one of my companies will allow me to attach a bank statement through bank statement history. Is this a new feature that is slowly being added or something? Why does the attachment feature ihow in one company but not the other?

Is there a way to attach a bank statement to the reconciliation

Hi there, @jenniferquinn1.

The Attach Statements option is only available on the QuickBooks Online Canada version only. As a workaround, you can export a reconciliation report, attach it with the bank statement, and send it to your own email or save it in the local drive for future reference.

Here's how to export a reconciled report:

  1. Go to the Reports and enter Reconciliation reports in the text box.
  2. Choose the reconciliation date and click View report.
  3. Click the Print icon and choose Save as PDF. I've added some screenshots for your reference:

I've included this article for your future reference in case you need to adjust or fix the reconciliation process: Fix issues at the end of a reconciliation in QuickBooks Online.

Please don't hesitate to tag my name in the comment section if you have other concerns or questions. I'd be happy to lend a helping hand. Take care.

Thanks for joining this conversation, nibei121282

For now, we haven't received any updates yet. Rest assured that I'm taking notes of your feedback and submit them to our software engineers. That way, they might consider adding this option in any future product enhancements.

In the meantime, you may consider performing the workaround provided in the previous replies on how to attach a bank statement to the reconciliation. You can also refer to this article shared by CF11 for additional information about this: Get bank statements directly from your bank when you reconcile.

If you have additional questions concerning attachments in QBO, do let me know. I'm always here to help.

I guess I must have one "Canadian Account" because I can only attach bank statement directly to reconciliation on one of my 2 accounts.  Please advise if they have a fix for this problem.

@dduplessis @nibei121282

Explore a bookkeeping app to store all of your important documents in one place, accessible from a desktop computer or mobile device. It will integrate with your QBO account.

Do have an update on the development of the ability to add an attachment to the reconciliation report?  I see Canada clients have this and there obviously a demand for it here in the U.S.

Is there an update on the development for adding attachments to reconciliation reports?  I am not interested in a paper process, or in the options available that require linking accounts.  I am looking for an update on adding this feature for Quick Books Online in the US, I see it is already available in Canada.

I can see how the benefit of being able to add attachments to the reconciliation reports would aid you in managing your business transactions with QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Jolley 1717.

For the time being, we haven't received updates on the development of the ability to add an attachment to the reconciliation report in the US version of QBO. To stay updated with any changes in the software, please feel free to visit this page: QuickBooks Online Product Updates.

We take customer suggestions as opportunities to improve the various features within our products. Therefore, I would encourage you to send suggestions or product recommendations.

In keeping with this, I encourage you to send a product recommendation. Your valuable feedback will be forwarded and reviewed by our Product Development team to help improve your experience while using the program. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Type in your recommendation in the Share your feedback field.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

I've attached screenshots below that show the first four steps.

Also, I'd recommend reconciling your accounts every month to easily catch errors and keep track of your business' income and expenses. Then, to make sure they always match your bank and credit card statements, you can check out this article for the complete reconciliation guide: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.

I'm all ears if you have other product recommendations. Please know that I'm always ready to help if you have other reporting and reconciliation concerns in QBO. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @Jolley 1717.

I was having this issue also, I finally figured it out. When you are in the reconcile screen, if you have not set-up the import pdf statement, you should see a box right above the Watch Stuart's Video box. It's gone from my screen now because I just set it up. But I have attached an image showing were the box should be if you have not set it up yet. Once you enable this option, it should then show View Statements button on this page and also the Statement Column in the History By account screen.
