Yay, same thing happend to me
Thank you! That worked for me as well.
Thank you! That worked for me as well. I changed my logo from .jpg to .bmg and my invoices are now printing fine.
I'm also an affected user and I just bought 2021 desktop today. I can't print or email invoices.
Hello, kwells111.
I'll lay down some details to help you print your invoices again.
Have you tried doing the workaround provided by LHcause714? If not, you'll want to replace your image files on the invoice with .BMP format. A damage printing component can prevent you from printing or emailing the invoices.
In this case, edit your images in MSPaint or any other software, then save them as .BMP format. Next, replace the existing logos or images using the Customize Data Layout tool:
Also, make sure to replace the logo with the .BMP format if you have it on your template. Click the Select Logo button on the Basic Customization window.
If you don't want to edit your current template, simply create another one. Click the Templates button, then select New.
You can also use the Tool Hub to fix the damaged component. You can check this article for the steps and how to download the latest version: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

My problem with QBO is it defaulting to saving the invoice as a pdf instead of showing the invoice to print. This just started in the last week. I did not change any settings.
Why is it that all supposed CS reps recommend clearing the Cache? That has never worked for any problem with a program.
Where are the setting in QBO to change the default setting from pdf to print?
Hi there, boxesnearaz-gmai.
Thank you for visiting again the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing details on how printing invoices work in QuickBooks Online.
You may always print an invoice in QuickBooks Online by clicking the Print or Preview button. The system is set to print as PDF by default to guarantee that you review and validate that all information is correct before printing. That said, defaulting when saving the invoice directly to print isn't available.
On the other hand, you'll only have the option to quickly print the entry when you have already done it and saved it in the system. That said, you can go to the Sales page and locate the transaction and print it.
Here's how:
Additionally, if you're referring to change the destination when printing invoices, you'll have to manually adjust the settings to the desired option.
Lastly, please refer to this article to see how the Sales page gives you a status of sales transactions like open invoices, and paid invoices: View sales transactions.
Should you have any follow-up questions about the customer's entry, don't hesitate to post again or leave a comment below. Have a good one.
I appreciate you responding to my question. But that is not how QBO was working until last week, There is nothing displayed on the preview screen. Instead the the Windows Explorer opens showing the name of the pdf. QBO no longer shows the preview of the invoice.
I appreciate your reply on this thread, @boxesnearaz-gmai
I can help you sort things out so you can print invoices seamlessly.
Let's perform some basic troubleshooting procedures to verify if this is a browser issue. When a cache is kept for a long time, it can cause the browser to behave strangely.
To start with, open your QBO company using an incognito page. Check out these keyboard shortcuts to open it:
If the preview page is showing and you're able to print the invoice with ease, then you'll have to clear your regular browser cache. This will prevent unusual behavior in the browser.
In case the issue persists, I recommend you use another supported browser.

I have tried everything that is stated in QB reply instructions. I've tried different browsers, cleared catch memory, reset computer, reset printer. none of this has fixed the problem. This is a QB problem and needs to be fixed ASAP. I have no problem printing anything else, just QB forms.
Hi there, dtatham.
I'm here to help you with your printing concern in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
To be sure we're on the same page, I'd like to verify if you encounter any error messages when printing. Also, you've mentioned that you have no problem printing anything else, just QB forms. Can you add more details about those QB forms you're referring to? Any extra information is much appreciated.
We're looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!
Here I am in August 2024, this issue is new to me as of today. I like their suggestion of giving them a handwritten receipt. Maybe it would save me a lot of grief. Rhetorical question: Why "fix" something that isn't broken?
Hi there, Greg.
I understand the importance of printing your invoices in QuickBooks Online. If you're encountering the same problem as the previous users, I'd recommend troubleshooting your browser. We'll need to ensure your browser works efficiently with QBO.
If the problem persists, I can guide you on troubleshooting your browser to ensure it runs with QuickBooks efficiently. Let's start with accessing QuickBooks Online using incognito mode or a private window.
Here are the shortcut keys to go private mode in a browser:
For Google Chrome / Microsoft Edge / Opera:
For Firefox:
For Safari:
If this works, you can proceed to clear your browser's cache and cookies to clear temporary files running in your browser that have caused the malfunctions. Otherwise, you can also use other supported browsers to ensure it runs QBO efficiently.
Additionally, you can also consider printing a packing slip in QuickBooks Online.
