Can you hide a bank balance for checks

I appreciate your Community post, @cam-mosscrossing.  I've got some tips about hiding a bank balance for checks in QuickBooks Online.

The bank balance automatically appears next to the account when you create a check and choose a bank account to link it to. If that's the balance you'd prefer to hide, that option is unavailable right now.

On the other hand, if you're printing checks, there's no reason for you to hide it. Viewing the preview and print sample will allow you to verify it. This is how:

  1. Go to the Expenses menu then select the Expenses tab.
  2. Locate the check, then click on Print/Edit.
  3. Select Print setup from the bottom.
  4. Proceed to letter C and click on View preview and print sample.

Lastly, if it's the bank balance column of the account where the check is deducted that you want to remove, you can uncheck the Bank Balance from the settings icon. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Select the Gear icon from the banking register. It's located above the Action column.
  4. Unselect the Bank Balance box.

Go back to the main register page and you should now see the bank balance hidden.

Can you hide a bank balance for checks

I appreciate the info. We really do need to hide this on the online entry of checks. We have a staff member we need to do it, but that person shouldn't see how much we have in our accounts.

Thanks for the info! In my case, I do need this to be a feature for a staff member that enters the check details online, since that is one of their duties, but we don't want to disclose banking balances to that person.

Thanks for getting back to us, cam-mosscrossing.

I appreciate you explaining how it would help you to keep your bank balance confidential. However, the option to hide it is unavailable in QuickBooks Online.

While this isn't available, you can submit your feedback to our product developer to make the program better. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the upper right and select Feedback under Profile.
