No need for a work around. I solved the problem and mine is fixed. I'm using direct connect and happy.
Look at my other posts from later yesterday... They explain how to make it work seamlessly.
After you review that post, you can share it with the engineers or whomever else at QuickBooks so they can help others resolve the issue.
It's quite simple... I just didn't know it.
I think I just replied to this... but I don't see my reply. I had the same issue yesterday....
The good news is - You're in the wrong place! We don't need to access Truist from inside QuickBooks web browser at all!!!! (That was where I wasted so much time.)
Forget about that... Just choose BB&T - Online. And do not click anything that takes you to a web browser. You just click continue and there's a place to enter your info. All done! (I called Truist yesterday and realized their information said to select BB&T - Online. That got me 1/2 way to the solution... I kept trying to do something that would take me to a web browser inside QuickBooks. Wrong Answer! All I had to do, was click continue & enter in my new info. So happy
Yes - They should! I was a SunTrust customer... Same issue. After hours on the phone with Quickbooks, I called Truist yesterday. The told me to select "BB&T - Online".
You'll need to access your bank account through Truist's website first. (I was able to use my SunTrust credentials. Once I did that... I was now a Truist user. Then I added the Direct Connect feature. It tells you to verify your data file. (Something like that). After you do that... Then you go to QuickBooks... Select the account you want to add online banking to. (You should've already deactivated all online services before this step.)
Once you do that... You select for BB&T - Online. After that... don't do anything on the first page it brings you to, just click continue and type the same login you used when you logged into Truist. (After that, data file associated and you can click confirm.)
More details are in a post from earlier yesterday.
Downloading QB info crashes QB every time. Also, you can't access Truist business banking check pay via Safari.
I am unable to download any suntrust transactions into my quickbooks desktop now that it has been transitioned to Truist. How can I fix this?
I agree with that post. each time I download it looks like it is working and then it crashes repeatedly. how to fix? This is quickbooks DESKTOP
Hello, ELMM.
If you're having issues with syncing transactions from the Truist Bank in QBDT. I'd recommend refreshing the connection of your account in QuickBooks. This way, your current data will flow in the bank feeds. Here's how:
In case the issue persists, you can also enter your online banking data manually. You can refer to this article for the detailed steps: Import data in QuickBooks Desktop.
I've included this article for more details about downloading bank transactions: Download Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
In addition, check out this resource for a complete guide on how to add and match bank feeds transactions: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
If the same thing happens, I recommend contacting your bank to see if there are any ongoing issues on their end. It might be the reason why your transactions aren't updating or why the connection shows unusual behavior.
Stay in touch with us if you need further assistance with banking. We're always here to help. Have a great day. Take care!
I have not been able to get the SunTrust-Truist transactions uploaded by importing manually. Does anyone have a current fix?
I am having issues and I don't know how to fix it right now.
Thank you for joining the thread, @Nora12. I’ll share some information about importing your transactions manually into QuickBooks.
If you’re using QuickBooks Online, one of the common errors when importing transactions using CSV is incorrect mapping. In the mapping stage, double-check that you selected the correct columns. If this is not done, QuickBooks will not be able to read the data.
You must use either a 3-column or 4-column format to import a .CSV file. A 3-column format must have a Date, a Description, and the Transaction Amount. For a 4-column table, there is a Date column, a Description column, and both a Credit and a Debit column.
Moreover, you can refer to this article for guidance on how you can format your file to get bank transactions into QuickBooks Online: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.
On the other hand, if you’re using a QuickBooks Desktop, we can check your Web Connect as this is one of the reasons why we encounter some errors when importing your transactions.
Web Connect problems can happen for a variety of reasons. Files from the bank are occasionally incomplete or in the incorrect format. Changes at your bank can also cause problems.
Since you're unable to import your transactions into QuickBooks Desktop, I suggest you reach out to your financial institution. That way, they’ll be able to help you get the right file. Web Connect-enabled banks and financial institutions know how to handle these types of issues.

Furthermore, you can refer to the following articles to add and match transactions as well as reconcile your QuickBooks account.

Getting an error OL-222, Anyone has any suggestions on this? Had Tech support from QB and they could not figure this one out. Any one else getting this error?
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. I'll provide the steps you need to take, so you can get help on this matter, @Jaime123 and @mdoming.
The Error OL-222 that you get means QuickBooks didn't receive a valid response from the financial institution's server. This is often caused by when you try to import one or more characters .QBO file that isn't compliant with the Open Financial Exchange (OFX) standard for exchanging financial data with QuickBooks.
When importing your transactions into QuickBooks, you'll have to create a backup of your company file to have a secured copy of your data. Once done, you can follow the steps above.
You can also use Excel to edit the .QBO file and search for a QBO to CSV converter online. After editing the file, make sure to convert it back to .QBO file format.
Once done, you can import the file again to QuickBooks Desktop.
If the same thing happens, I'd recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team. They can review your file and ensure you can import the banking transactions. Here's how to reach them:
I'm also adding this article about our contact options and support available for your reference: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.
In case you encounter similar bank feed errors in the future, keep this article for your reference: Fix OL and OLSU Bank Feeds errors in QuickBooks Desktop.
Should you have questions or other concerns, please let me know. I'd be sure to jump in as soon as I can. Take good care.
I am having same issue. I dont use direct connect. I have quickbook desktop version 2021. I can download the QBo file from truist site but when I import it is giving me eror OL-222. I am so tired of troubleshooting since no one can give me proper answer
1) i have disconnected my bank feed in quickbook and reestablish it . When I start to download new QBo file it asked me which account to connect and I selected the account . so now in bankfeed i do see my account changed to BB&T
2) as suggested for error Ol-222 - I opend in notepad and made sure there is no invalid charachter like &, or<checknum> (has number next to it etc etc
3_ refreshed bank feed multiple time
4) renamed fidir and downloaded latest one
5) made sure quickbook is upto date with latest version
called quickboook and they said to call truist. Just tired. if anyone ever finds solution to this error please let us know. to me it seems like there is something in QBo file that is now downloading the file .
I was able to get a hold of a customer service rep. that walked me through each step. I actually set up a different bank account named truist and added all the banking information and passwords to connect as before the change. Then we merged the accounts to one so not to lose any data. You have to be careful though because you will have double expense transaction that will feed into the account once its updated and will have to exclude then delete once you confirm that they have already been entered into your ledger/register.
I would definitely call customer service to get a step by step verbal instruction. The girl I spoke with was amazing and knowledgeable.
Are you saying you use... Web Connect? Where you download transactions and import?
If so... I wouldn't do that. The only bank accounts I download and import transaction to are the banks that are so small they don't have "Direct Connect".
Sign up for Direct Connect at Truist - You'll love it. Once you do that it'll ask you to validate your Qbks file.
Then go to setup your banking... Select "BB&T - Online" don't click anything on that first page... It will only frustrate you! Just click continue. You type in your online Login and Password and suddenly... Your life changes forever. LOL!
I have a post from about a week ago???? That walks you through the steps. I've seen some comments from QBKS... but I've disregarded. What I posted worked! (And I did have to call Truist for one piece of the information... I listed that above... The BB&T online thing)
(I have a few accounts... The small bank... I have to import the QBO file. The bigger banks, I don't have to do that. It's great.)
Thx , If i had one account than I don't mind paying $15 per month for direct connect but I have five and getting ready for 2 more so that gets expensive. 7 accounts x180=$1260 for something that worked for last 16 year for free and this new truist merger is not my fault- LOL???
What is the link to sign up for the Direct Connect at Truist?
Got it! I don't know how to export the qbo file. (I know they have a 32-38 page document... but I'm not sure if that explains it). It might be attached earlier in the thread.
I highlighted the short answer about how to get to Truist's Direct Connect...
After you deactivate your online banking from current checking account....
And after you enable/add Direct Connect to your now Truist account. (Login to banking.... Hover over your name up top, Select profile & settings... Then preferences... Scroll down to preferences. You'll activate web connect from there.)
After you enable the web connect feature with Truist… It will ask you to associate your data file first. (You’ll do this by logging in/doing online banking in QuickBooks… This is where I had issues before)
This is how to do it:
Go to Bank Feeds to setup new access.... When you search for the Bank... Search for BB&T - Online (I had to search for BB... And then I found BB&T - Online). After you select BB&T - Online, don’t click anything on that first page. Just click continue and go to the next page. (You should not get and don’t need to login through the QuickBooks web browser.) The next page will give you a place to enter your customer id & password. From there, simply use your online login information. (I know, SunTrust was different and had a separate pin & customer id). With this - It's just your Online ID and password.
After login - Your data file has been associated and you can click confirm (or whatever the Truist thing says to click after you've associated your data file). I don't remember the exact wording... I decided to post this a little after I got this figured out.
@Missgoode2shews1Great!!! I can confirm that the steps work!!! Thank you very Much.
I decided to try direct connect for one account which has most transaction. I went to truist online activated the direct connect service and than went to quickbook bank feed and added bb&T as bank and follow direction. now when I go to access online banking from bank feed it is asking for PIN. I never had pin before so do I have to call truist and wait for 2 hours again or is there work around it . Did I do everything corretly
How Do I get Pin once it is connected via direct connect. It ss asking for PIN
The pin is the Password that you use to log in to the online banking.
The “Pin” is just your Truist password.
thank you so much , it worked . I thought pin was something different. oh well finally something is working. was able to download transaction and it is working. of course one week was missing for some reason so I have to add it manually but at least it is working
