Compliance Documentation

Good Day,

I'm having a bit of a difficult time getting a concrete answer on the acquisition of a particular form of compliance (an SSAE 16 report or a SOC1).  Does QB online use either of these reports for controls and compliance? The only reason I ask is that for most of our 401k audits, an SSAE 18 or a SOC1 report will not suffice as proof of said compliance (according to the AICPA).  I'm a bit stuck between a rock and a hard place, and I don't really know where to turn.  Thank you for your time; please advise at your convenience.

Best,

Tbritt

Thanks for bringing this with us, @tbritt.

Software companies such as Intuit is not required by SOX to provide a Trust Services Criteria (TSC) SOC1, SOC2, or SSAE16 report.

However, Intuit is required to file an annual certification that is part of the Intuit 10K filing. This is available online: https://investors.intuit.com/financials/annual-reports/default.aspx.

Aside from that, the Intuit Online Payroll Services are subject to an annual audit of the control environment following SSAE18 guidance. That results in a SOC 2 Type II report.

To obtain this report , you'll need to contact our Customer Care Team. From there, they can create a request for the report you need.

Don't hesitate to drop a comment below if you have other questions. I'm more than happy to help. Take care!

Hello,

I have been trying for a month now to get the SOC1 for Desktop.  My auditor is asking for it and I have been unsuccessful. She is surprised that Intuit is causing so many delays in a widely used and generally publicly available.

I am at a loss.

Hi Maybelle,

well, I am going around with one of my auditors about the SOC1.  She is surprised as Paychex, ADP and other nationally-known payroll companies all readily provide their SOC1 reports without delay.

I have been with QB Desktop for 25 years, with many clients and audits, nobody ever before asked for SOC1.

So, I feel stuck.

Hi Miriam,

thank you for your reply.  I have been in contact with the Customer Care Team for the last 3 weeks, once a week, and they are not able to help me with getting a copy of the SOC1.  I told my Auditor and she is very unhappy and does not understand what the heck is going on.

I told her that I was very happy with Intuit Payroll, I have been using it for many years with lots of clients.

She is asking me if I perform test of calculated payroll, payroll taxes, and/or reported amounts on quarterly/annual filings to insure accuracy?  What steps are taken to ensure the payments and reports are accurate each pay period?

I never ever thought about anything like that at all.  I am assuming that with my payroll subscription and the direct deposit fees that I am taking care off.

this is the first time in 25 years I am asked for an SOC1.

I do not know what to do.  Any suggestions?  The Customer Care Team is clueless.

Thank you,

Doris

Thanks for getting back here, @Doette.

The Intuit Online Payroll Service is only subject to an annual control environment audit that complies with SSAE18 guidelines. Resulting in a SOC2 report. To get this, you'll have to reach out to our Customer Care team. To do so, please refer to the steps outlined by my colleague, MirriamM. To learn more info about this report, see this link: Obtaining a SOC2 Report .

For your reference, please proceed to the Compliance for Intuit payroll services section of this article: Intuit Compliance.
