Does anyone have issues with a QB Enterprise reports exporting to excel

Why did QB's Enterprise all of a sudden stop export reports to excel??  I count on that feature quite often, now I can only do a comma separated value file (csv) and that is a pain to convert and move around items as I need.  Will this issue ever be fixed?

Does anyone have issues with a QB Enterprise reports exporting to excel

The comment made to update my Microsoft Office is not the solution as my IT company updates every night.  This feature stopped working a few UPDATES ago.  One update and it just stopped working.  I really think this is not a Microsoft issue.  And I wish it would work again because I really used this feature alot.  I feel this is an issue with QB's because after one of the updates, can't remember which, that feature stopped working.  I think there needs to be a fix in QB's, not Microsoft.

100% agreed.  I am not able to pull the year end reports for our CPA because the General Ledger is too large. After the past updates to QB Enterprise, the excel exports stop after 32,769 rows and my GL is over 50,000 rows.  HUGE issue!

Mine won't even convert it to xls file, it creates a "comma separated value, csv" file.  Then I have to go in a manipulate it.  It just won't work and I CANNOT get QB's to understand and they can't figure it out.

Will your QB's export a smaller file to excel without it being a .csv file??  I don't understand why QB's can't figure this issue out and fix it.

Does anyone have issues with a QB Enterprise reports exporting to excel

Hi there, cstocker and cwelch61. We appreciate you bringing up the issues with QB Enterprise reports converting to CSV files instead of XLS, and the problem with exporting reports that contain large numbers of rows. Let's work together to resolve this so you can get back to managing your tasks smoothly.

The 32,769-row limit when exporting to Excel is a significant issue, especially for large datasets like your General Ledger, cstocker. To work around this, try exporting your General Ledger in smaller segments, such as quarterly or monthly chunks, instead of the entire year. This way, each export will have fewer rows and stay within the limit.

On the other hand, when exporting the report in QBDT, there's another option besides a CSV file. Let me help you export your reports directly to Excel, cwelch61.

Here's how:

  1. When running the report, click Export.
  2. Click the dropdown button on either, Print, Email, or Excel.
  3. When you click print, the report will be saved as a PDF file.
  4. When you click Email, you'll have the report sent in Excel and PDF.
  5. Then, for Excel, you'll have a saved copy as a CSV file.

We are able to pull "some" xls files but the larger reports HAVE to be csv or they crash while trying to export to Excel.  Unfortunately in today's case I can't even pull the company GL for the year as CSV because it's over 32,769 rows which Intuit states is their "new limit" for excel.  When I asked why Intuit had lower limits than Microsoft Excel's limits, they replied that it was to make the reports smaller and "more manageable".  This has not made the reports more manageable.  For the end user (us) we are forced to jump through all kinds of hoops to pull smaller periods, then spend countless hours trying to combine all the data including the sub-totals and totals where applicable.  This issue began a few "updates" ago and after countless hours with our IT and Intuit, there seems to be no resolution.  If someone wants their reports to be smaller, they should have the option within the system to do that...but Intuit should revert their program back to what it was before; meaning the Excel limits came from Microsoft, not Intuit.  We are looking into 3rd party apps that may help us circumvent this issue, but honestly it's a shame that Intuit made this decision on behalf of all their consumers.

I appreciate the response, but I do  not want it to save any excel file as a .csv file.  I tried clicking the email button, then send report as excel, and I got a message that said I do not have the correct excel and I could not export it.  I have checked with my IT and they say I have the latest excel and they do not understand what version I need to do this.  This feature stopped working after 2023 updates.  We have uninstalled QB's and Microsoft and I have, as was suggested by a QB's tech, to save the excel as xlsx, which I changed to save as that, and NOTHING works.  I don't know what else to do.  I am soooo tired trying to figure this out.

I agree, they should fix this issue.  My reports are not as big as yours are, so there shouldn't be an issue.  And that info I received stating that I could click the "email" and then "send as excel", that DID NOT work.  It won't even let me open exel, I get a message saying that excel could not be opened.  Sounds to me like Intuit and Microsoft have an issue and they both need to get together to make it work.  Intuit seems to not care whether it works or not.  When you have to pay the price you pay for the QBDT version, EVERYTHING should work as it used to.  I used to be able to open the report as excel, so since it DID work in the past, either one of their updates stopped that, or an update from Microsoft changed something and therefore Intuit should update to make those work together.  It is VERY frustrating on my end, so I can imagine how frustrated it would be if I had a large file like yours and it not work.
