I'm here to ensure your cancellation process is seamless, @folci. As for your data, I'll share some options on how you can still keep it.

Cancelling your QuickBooks Online subscription will depend on where you've signed up. Let me walk you through how you can call it off.

If you've purchased directly from Intuit, you can follow these steps.

  1. Log in to the Intuit Account Manager.
  2. Click your name under Product & Billing to access your subscription.
  3. Locate the product you want to cancel, then click Cancel.
  4. State your reason for canceling your subscription by completing the multiple-choice survey. Once you have finished, select Continue to cancel.
  5. You'll be directed to a page that displays the benefits of the product and the last day of your subscription. Click on Continue to cancel to proceed. After that, a confirmation pop-up will appear to confirm that your subscription has been canceled.
  6. Select Got it.

To cancel a subscription purchased through the Apple App Store. Follow the steps in this article: If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple.

Here's an article you can follow on how to cancel a subscription purchased through the Google Play Store: Cancel, pause, or change a subscription on Google Play.

For reference, check out this article: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription or trial.

After canceling your QuickBooks Online subscription, you will have read-only access to your data for one year. Read this article for more information: What happens to my QuickBooks Online data after I cancel?

Moreover, only QBO Advanced subcription can back up and restore your data. Nonetheless, I'm here to help you store your information by exporting them from QBO.

Regardless of the version you're using, you'll have the capability to export data from QBO. You can follow these steps on how to export your reports and list.

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Export data.
  2.  Set the date range in the Reports tab.
  3. Toggle on or off if you want to add or remove items from the Reports and Lists
  4. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists tabs by turning the switch on or off.
  5. Click Export to Excel.

For reference and additional guidance in moving non-posting entries and attachments from QBO, please read this article: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

If you want a fresh start, you can follow these steps for guidance: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.

I'll always be ready to assist you if you have other questions regarding closing your account and keeping your data. I'm just one post away.

@folci

You can convert your data to QB Desktop file before cancelling your QBO account and use the trial version to access your historical data for good.

How can I close this Quick Books account and yet keep old data for reference?

Hi @4Gal ,

I came across your comment in researching my situation (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/account-management/re-archiving-old-quickbooks-des...). Similarly to what you suggested, I'd like to convert data from Quickbooks Pro 2016 to Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2024 (as trial version), and keep the historical data accessible as read-only - while building a new company account in QBO.

To your knowledge, can someone really use a trial version of QB Desktop (particularly for Mac) to access historical as read-only, even after trial ends?? Do you have experience doing this? Thank you for input.

You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for advise. They can share a workaround to access your archive files for good on QBD Mac.
