Why doesn't the customers phone number print on the printed invoice? Seems like a must have feature. I should be able to get my customers contact information direct from the top of the invoice to call them.
Quickbooks Online
Thanks for joining this conversation, @travsirocz. I can provide steps that will surely help you include your customer's phone number when printing the invoice form.
In QuickBooks Online (QBO), when you create a custom field you also have to enable the Print on form option so it will appear on the printed sales form. Here's how to do it:
Then, let's check if the custom field for your customer's phone number will appear on the printed invoice. Please refer to these steps:

In case you'll need to review all the invoices you've recorded for a specific period, you can run the Invoice List report. Let me guide you how:

Custom Fields is not an option for me under All Lists.
It's good to see you here again, travsirocz.
Let me share some insights about the Custom Fields option.
If you have QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced you can create and use enhanced custom fields. You can check the subscription plan you have, and you might want to upgrade to use this feature. Here's how:
You can also use this link on how you can upgrade and manage your subscription: Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription.
If you have either plan already and you're unable to see the Custom fields option, it's possible that your regular browser stored too many cache files that causes unusual behavior within your account. To start, you can try creating custom fields using a private browser. Here are a few keyboard shortcuts on how to open a private browser:
If this works, it means that you need to clear your browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result while using a private browser, I recommend switching to another browser.

Why doesnt Quickbooks stop hiding behind crappy online software which keeps doing ring of death and only solution is to go in incognito mode in chrome - then this saga of adding customer details on templates (NOT the fob off of 3 custom fields) - didnt have this issue in SAGE ...
I Run 4 businesses on QB and 2 export and need to make paperwork compliant which could be done with the info in the DB's but you lot cant be bothererd to resolve for many many years ..
Hey there has been a change to the system: we can no longer add customer phone numbers in the Address field. The address fields have been changed from just an address box with unlimited lines, to an address box #1 with one line, and an address box #2 with one line.
I used to just enter the address with phone number underneath, so that I could immediately see clients phone numbers on invoices and estimates. I can no longer do this. I have to log on to Quickbooks to retrieve their numbers through the system.
WHY IS THERE NO OPTION TO HAVE CUSTOMER PHONE NUMBERS AND EMAIL ADDRESSES ON INVOICES AND ESTIMATES???
Thank you for following this thread, FournierFinishing.
I'm here to make sure to be able to add customer phone numbers in the address field into QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You can add two custom fields for the email address and phone number in QuickBooks Online. Then, manually enter the details when creating the invoice.
Here's how:
I've added screenshots too.
Feel free to use these links that will help you customize your forms and add them to your reports:

What a stupid generic reply - clear cache, suppose you want me to change the fuse in the plug next !
this is you cannot put the customers phone number and or email from the record on to the invoice or and template - i have see you reference the 3 custom fields - which is a fudge because you guys cannot be bothered to listen to customer and provide what they need - this is basic stuff - take any field from the customer account and put in the header of the invoice or delivery note - as to make an invoice for EXPORT this is needed
Hi, thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I do not have the "Custom Fields" button between Shipping and Custom Transaction Number buttons.
Thanks for getting back here, @FournierFinishing. Let me walk you through how you can add your customer's phone number and email addresses to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
We can use the custom fields feature in QBO to add a field in your sales forms and purchase orders. Here's how to create a new field:
See the screenshot below for visual reference:
Importantly, if you still don't have this feature, please know that this feature is exclusive to the QBO Plus and Advanced versions.
Furthermore, you can use the Message on invoice or Message on statement field to add your customers' information.
Moreover, you can check out this article for another workaround to show your customers' phone numbers in your sales transaction.
Additionally, once everything is settled with your invoices, you can use this if your customers' have paid for your product or services: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.
Please let me know how it goes or if you have any follow-up questions about this feature in QBO. I'll be here if you need further assistance. Have a wonderful day!
I don't have the Custom Fields option under Attachments.
I currently have a subcription to Quickbooks EasyStart. The Plus subscription would cost me an additional $40CAD/month. That's $480/year, or $4800 for 10 years. I'd have to be completely out of my mind to pay that for such a simple feature to have on the program. This is ridiculous. A phone number and email address should always be on client's invoices and estimates.
What really ticks me off is that you've changed the client's Billing Address field, which had unlimited lines, and I was able to add phone and email, to 6 separate fields, Street Address 1, Street Address 2, City, Province, Postal Code, Country. I don't know why they did this, but now I can't enter phone and email. We're going backwards here and it doesn't make sense.
Your Step #4 does not appear on my account. Please explain.
I have 3 custom fields available to me of which all are being used for other info I need displayed.
Don't see WHY the customer phone number or email would have to be a custom field since the information is already in the customer profile. Why it cant just print/show in the billing info field with the rest of their information makes absolutely no sense. Yes, it would help a lot of people if that info was there, for shipping, contacting, etc.
PLEASE FIX THIS AND STOP MAKING BUSINESS MORE DIFFICULT FOR NO REASON.
Hello
I've added phone number as a custom field but when I enter it the phone number it doesn't show on invoices for that customer after the original invoice. Is it possible to have it populate every time so we don't have to conintue entering the phone number each time?
Thank you
Hi mwillis-llc,
Being able to save the phone number on the added custom field would be a great advantage especially for customers who find this option helpful.
As of now, the said feature is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. With that, I suggest sharing a proposal with our product engineering team. Here's how:
As of now, you'll have to enter the customer's phone number on the field manually.
Moreover, you can check this article as your guide in recording customer payments: Take and process payments in QuickBooks Online with QuickBooks Payments.
