This no longer works for me as of 11/1/2023. This new interface is awful upon awful; wasting my time. Everything requires 2-3 clicks to accomplish. Why does 'Activity' display less activity than the very helpful subtitle beneath a recipient's company name, as before?
The giant bar of color they force across the page on invoices is a terrible design choice. They're really going to force us to use all that ink and/or toner? Why is my logo now smaller?
What's worse is that old invoices now have a 'Pay Invoice' button appended to the bottom; which looks nothing short of embarrassing on a printed invoice included in a mailed parcel to a client. You offer me the choice of looking dumb or wasting tons of ink.
Please bring back the old invoices experience, and pronto! I can't stand this much longer...
This new layout is terrible. We will be looking for new accounting service. It no longer works well for our business. Hoping they change the invoice back before we leave. The old style worked just fine. Why keep changing things that are not broken.....
I agree, the new layout is terrible and unusable for what I need. Does anyone have any recommendations for different accounting services?
Will the new layout be improved in the very new future to include PROGRESS INVOICING??
You have a huge customer base that relies on this. Taking away the ability to progress invoice is a horrible decision.
I understand how the new invoice layout has altered your typical business workflow, @Yes24.
As a valued QuickBooks customer, It would be great to relay your feedback directly to our Product Developers about including the Progress Invoicing feature in the new layout. By sharing your valuable insights and suggestions, you can contribute to the continuous improvement of our software. You can follow these steps:
Once done, you can track your feature request through this link: Customer Feeback. Please know that feature releases will have to undergo extensive measures and trials to validate their usage and effectiveness. That being said, we don't have an exact timeframe as to when this will be available.

Hello, they have now changed it back to the "new layout" for us pleb simple start subscribers. Invoicing, packing list are all terrible with tiny font that I cannot read and no one here to help to change/correct that. The look is elementary. This here is indeed the true feed back, but they don't care. I am hoping my customers don't think less of my company as I send them crayon drawn packing lists and invoices. I am just waiting till they roll this out to the larger companies (my customers) so they will be forced to listen. Most many of my customers use Q/B. So I will wait (to not rock any boats) in the laze of this company as they try to figure it out. Thank you Q/B, stay awesome.
Does your management even care your engineering team is killing your product? NO ONE LIKES THE CHANGES AS THEY MAKE OUR JOBS HARDER AND SEEM TO BE CHANGE FOR CHANGE'S SAKE!
Seriously, stop telling us to use the feedback button. I've been using that button since the disastrous and totally unusable "modern view" reporting. While annoying that we have to click a button to get to classic view, NOW YOU ARE TAKING IT AWAY ON DEC 14. Apparently all the negative feedback isn't making it to decision makers or they don't really care about their customers.
Does anyone at Intuit care that your QBO UI updates are universally hated and all the feedback I've seen is they make everything more difficult? Is customer satisfaction and a functional product no longer a company goal? I'm asking this question seriously, very seriously. What is going on and what is management going to do about it. And if their plan is to continue to roll out this disaster, why? What are the advantages of the "improvements" -- because I haven't seen any positives anywhere about all of these UI changes.
Do your developers actually read the feedback? Seems like the guy who said it goes in a trash bin was right.
I'm asking because no one seems to like these "updates" and yet you keep rolling them out with no option to stay with the prior version and that seems a bit tone deaf, if you ask me.
Seriously, are you going to keep making these stupid changes? I need to know if I need to start investigating alternative accounting systems and planning my system conversion.
Switching to old layout is only available for essentials, Plus and Advanced subscriptions. so If you want to switch back you need to upgrade if you have Simple Start.

And I would also like to make clear that I wasn't coming at you...... I agree with this post.... and I was just incensed when I typed the above (still upset), and it came out kind of like a jab at you.... NOT INTENDED! I just wanted that clear. We have solidarity in great disappointment in these "upgrades." Ridiculous how they throw these wrenches in the wheels and proclaim a better product worth upping the price game for.
Negative. I have Essentials. As of mid to late October (I believe it was), I was sent an email that I am no longer able to rever to old invoice as I had been doing for a while. People, do not upgrade to try to get this option. IT IS NOT available, at least in Essentials.
old layout button is not coming up for invoices
Hi ROGER, I have some insights to share with you about the missing old layout button in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Recently, QBO has undergone an update that requires customers to switch from the old invoice experience to the new one. However, only selected users can switch between different invoice styles.
Also, if you're using QBO Simple Start, switching back to the old layout is no longer available. Since you mentioned that you don't have the old layout button, send feedback directly to our Product Engineers so they can look into it and add this feature in future updates.

Still looking for the spot to put in the tracking #. Also my packing slip just randomly generates a "Ship Date" even though there is also no spot to put that in. I like how the packing slip still looks the same, but the invoices have the new look with the tinyist of font that I cant read. They also have a massive blue header, making invoices now two pages when it used to be one. Please make the invoices look like they did.
Get going! I heard the top subscribers are going to have to use this new layout starting the 11th of next month. I can definitely help at Q/B! I too can work remotely by doing nothing and not listing to your customers. PLEASE hire me!
The "Quickbooks Team" in the forums have gotten sufficient feed back about the new update. How about you just communicate with them about changing it back? It doesn't need to be looked into, it just needs to be changed back.
I was able to switch back to the old layout, but totally agree here, the new layout is horrible. It requires several more clicks in my process and Im sure it takes longer to enter invoices!
We always ensure we can provide the best feature when managing invoices and we understand that the new invoice layout differs from the usual way of creating your invoice transactions, DThigpen.
It's great to know you were able to switch back to the old invoice layout. Only selected users can switch between different invoice styles. We see consumer feedback as an opportunity to improve the numerous features of our products. I'd recommend giving our engineers direct feedback. They may look into this suggestion and incorporate it into future updates. Here's how:

@threesprings agreed. What other software or services are you considering?
Get ahold of customer support!!!!! hahahahahahaha You think we have all day to waste on your ignorant changes! We are trying to run business here! not wasting our our time trying find out if we can even make an invoice!
@armzhouse — were you able to find a workaround for this? Also having the same issue!
i SOOO HATE THESE GUYS AND HAVE TRIED TO GET MY CLIENT TO CHANGE
I'm having this issue now and the option to switch to the old version was available yesterday 12/13/2023 but no longer there this morning. Can I please have that option back. this version definitely not working for me. I have already sent out so many suggestions, but this is really ruining my workflow. Not only does it not show the category/subcategory of my product but keeps auto-toggling on the ship option. Which mess up my tax on my invoice. My clients come to my shop to pick-up we do not deliver and even when I turn it off. The second I click email and review it toggles back on. On the old version I had this issue but not as extreme. At least after I select save and click it off. It stayed off when I email my invoice.
Thank you for joining this thread, @ GDS.
Currently, we're unable to go back to the old invoice interface once we switch to the new invoice layout. However, I see how this would be beneficial on your end to utilize the old layout.
Moreover, I appreciate your effort in sending suggestions. Yet, for this feature to be available, we recommend submitting direct feedback again to our Product Development Team to have this feature back. They might add this to our future product updates.
