Hello again, @rickwillard89.
In regards to my original response, I was thinking you were trying to change a category type.
What you will need to do here is inactivate this "Bank" account and create a new one under "Income" type.
Here's how:
For more details about this process, you may read through this link: How to deactivate an account or restore a deactivated account.
Next, you need to create a new income account.
Let me know if I can help with anything further! I am happy to help.
This should be an easy edit for you, @rickwillard89! I'm happy to show you how to make these changes.
I'd love to help with any other questions you may have within QBO, otherwise, have a great day!
Jessica.... I've tried to walk through exactly what you're talking about, but am unable to make this edit. Can I have a live chat with you...share my screen...whatever? Goodness gracious, I'm so red-faced that I haven't been able to make this simple edit. Please let me know. Thanks.
Hi again @rickwillard89, thanks for reaching back with an update.
Can you explain in a bit more detail what happens when you try to edit this category type?
I'd like you to also try some browser troubleshooting, to see if this resolves the issue:
Unfortunately, here in the Community we're unable to screen share or troubleshoot in person. I'm more than happy to take a look if you can provide screenshots of what you're seeing. I'm also happy to share how to reach QuickBooks Online support contact details.

Income - Assessment | Bank | Cash on hand | -14,111.70 | View register |
Income - Consultation | Bank | Cash on hand | -930.10 | View register |
Income - Package | Bank | Cash on hand | -3,500.00 | View register |
Can you see these line items? I'm TRYING to get these accounts to be switched from a "Bank" type to the "Income" type. I'm not seeing any options that allow that, even looking at the steps you've laid out. I can do a screen shot, but not DYING to share the company's account balance.... Thoughts?

A client imported desktop information into QBO and all the Chart of Accounts accounts are showing as bank types. When we hit the edit button, we can change types to Income and such but these transactions will not save. I am not sure how to change the account types. There are historical transactions in the registers.
Thanks for joining on this thread, @jp94.
I appreciate you for importing the transactions and giving them a try in editing the bank types in QuickBooks Online. I just have here troubleshooting steps to successfully save your refreshed transactions.
You can change any type in your chart of accounts and save it after you import it in QuickBooks. For more knowledge, visit this article: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
Did you receive any error messages while trying to save your updated transactions? If so, we can go ahead and perform some troubleshooting steps to get this sort out.
To begin, access your account through incognito. These browsers won't save any cache history. You may use the shortcut keys below:
From there, re-change the type again and save it to verify if it's already performing well. If that works, you'll want to clear the cache of your regular browser to remove previously stored browsing data. Using another supported browser is a good option also.
Another option is to inactivate the bank account and create a new one under the Income type. You can follow the instructions outlined by Jessica_young above.
