Let me provide some information about exporting transactions in QuickBooks Online, @cicadallc.
When uploading a CSV file, the format only includes the Date, Description, and Amount column. That being said, you'll have to manually categorize the transactions on your banking page.
For additional info, please refer to this article: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.
Moving forward, you may use bank rules to automatically categorize transactions from your bank. For detailed insights, you can utilize this link: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions.
In addition to that, learn how to reconcile your accounts so they always match your bank and credit card statements.
Fill me in if you have other questions about managing banking transactions in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to lend a helping hand.

Ok, first the export is to numbers, not excel. Why?
Hey there, @cicadallc.
Thanks for reaching back out to us. Let me share some insight.
The reason that this could be happening is due to not having Excel on your computer. If you do, I recommend reaching out to our Customer Support Team for additional assistance. Here's how:

I want to ensure you're able to export your bank transactions, cicadallc.
When exporting your bank transactions on the banking page, you'll have the export to excel icon, as shown by my colleague @ShiellaGraceA on her screenshot. To make sure we're on the same page, can you add more details about the export is to numbers, not excel that you've mentioned in your previous reply? This way, we'll have a better picture of what happened.

When exporting to Excel, are those transactions removed from the Banking Transactions area in QBO? I don't want to remove them. I just want to send my client a spreadsheet to look at and provide me with the information I need to categorize the transactions.
Thanks for joining this thread, 5birdiesfor73.
When exporting transaction data to Excel from your Bank transactions screen, you won't be removing any transactions from the list. Instead, a .csv file is created and downloaded to your computer. This file can be opened and worked with in Excel.
I've included an image showing myself exporting my own transaction data to Excel from the Bank transactions screen:
As you can see, my transactions remain on the list while my .csv file is downloaded.
I've also included a detailed resource about categorizing bank transactions which may come in handy moving forward: Categorize online bank transactions
Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a lovely Thursday!
Thanks! The client said he didn't code and accept anything, but he must have done something to cause most of the 135 transactions to be accepted into the bank check register. There were only 19 left when I went back to look; many of them categorized incorrectly.
When I exported to Excel, I selected the first page of transactions (50) before exporting. Could that have caused the problem? It didn't look like you selected anything before exporting. Is that correct? If that is correct, how many transactions got exported to Excel?
I just want to be sure I don't repeat the problem. It took a while to get the transactions back into the Banking Transactions area so they could be coded correctly.
Thanks
It's crucial to track your records accurately in QuickBooks Online (QBO), 5birdiesfor73. Allow me to help you manage transactions within the program.
You can review the Audit log in QBO to confirm and monitor the actions taken, identifying the individuals responsible for modifications and their specific tasks.
Please note that exporting transactions to Excel doesn't affect the categorization or appearance of the Banking page. Therefore, it isn't the cause of the issue you're experiencing. Additionally, the number of transactions shown on the Banking page is equivalent to the number of transactions that will be exported to Excel. If you want to modify this, change the Page size by selecting the small Gear icon.
You can also reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online. It makes sure they always match your bank and credit card statements.
I'll be sure to touch base if there's anything else you need to clarify about banking tasks. Kindly hit the Reply button to notify me. I'm available 24/7 to help you. Keep safe.
Thanks! Forgot about the audit log.

Is there a way to export all "For Review" transactions for all linked accounts instead of exporting each account individually?
Exporting all For review transactions for linked accounts is unavailable, lkmakley.
I can see how helpful this feature can be in simplifying your accounting process. However, it is necessary to export each account separately.
