Hello, I've looked everywhere I can think to look within the QB Desktop Pro 2020 program and can't find any way to delete, edit, change an entered mileage for a vehicle. I can't even locate a place where it lists all the entered mileage trips after they have been entered.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to delete/change/edit mileage once its entered into Desktop Pro? It seems extremely short sighted to include an option to enter mileage where specific dates and trips are entered, but then for there not to be any way to view or edit the individual trips.

Thanks for posting, @DrTorque.
I'll share the steps on how you can edit your mileage trips in QuickBooks Desktop. Let's go to your Mileage page to see it.
If you want to delete it, you'll have to delete the vehicle from the Vehicle List. Just click on the Vehicle List icon at the top of the page.
On the same window, you can also access the Mileage Rates, and Mileage Reports.
Additionally, you can access mileage reports from the Reports, and then Jobs Time and Mileage.

How do I delete mileages already recorded by mistake? I do not want to delete vehicles. I do not need to record new mileage anymore. I know how to edit but there is no delete function for recorded mileage. Thanks
Good to see you on this thread, @Shawn011.
Let me walk you through deleting unnecessary mileages in QuickBooks Desktop. When you enter mileage directly into program, it is instantly authorized. You are unable to change a trip once it has been added to the Approved list. We can only erase and recreate it.
Here's how to delete:

Hey there, Dan-EL. I can help you determine why you cannot see the options when attempting to edit a trip.
I want to ensure we're on the same page.
To clarify, how and where did you add the trips? Is it in QuickBooks Desktop?QBO? or an App? Any additional details you can provide will help me give a timely and accurate solution.
The instructions provided by my colleague are correct to edit or delete an incorrect trip for the Desktop version of QuickBooks.

I have several screen shots that i hope will be helpful.
I will send many replies.

screen shot number 4.
this screen shot shows another problem.
this report clearly shows that I added trips since 05-16-2023.
(as shown in an earlier screen shot) these do not show up in the approved screen.
I hope Youi can help.
Please let me know if I can provide more information.
thank You again for Your help
I appreciate you for sending screenshots, Dan-EL. I'd be glad to share additional information about editing mileage trips in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Once a trip is on the Approved list, it cannot be modified. If you manually enter mileage into QuickBooks, it will be automatically marked as approved. For more information on tracking mileage in QBDT, please check this article: Set up mileage tracking in QuickBooks Desktop.
Also, I highly recommend reaching out to your accountant. This is to ensure you'll assign the transaction accurately and avoid messing up your books. If you're not affiliated with one, you can use our Find an Accountant tool to look for a Pro Advisor near you.
Please know we remove the attachment that shows your license and product number for security purposes.

Hi,
I want to make sure that I understand Your last reply.
I think that You are telling me that once I approve the trip.
that trip cannot be edited.
Is that correct?
Can QuickBooks make a change to the software?
Does this make sense to anyone?
You did not address my question of why do the trips I enter, do not show up in the approved list?
Please look at the screen shots I sent eariler.
thank You
I appreciate your response, @Dan-EL. Allow me to add some insights to clarify things for you.
You've got it! The point my colleague was making is that once the trips are approved, they cannot be modified.
Since this option is unavailable, I suggest sending a recommendation to our product developers. At times, we roll out enhancements based on our customer's requests. Your feedback plays a crucial role in guiding our Product Development team's decisions regarding the inclusion of features in upcoming updates. The prioritization of specific features is also influenced by the level of popularity they receive through user requests.
Here's how:
Then, let's make sure to approve the trips so it would show up in the lists. If it's missing, we can utilize the Verify and Rebuild tool to find and fix the most common issues in a company file.

I have continually answered that I am NOT a robot to all questions.
I have just approved a trip that needs to be changed to another job.
I have made an error and now it cannot be corrected or even deleted?
What is the thinking on this?
My reports will be wrong for the rest of this year and on into QB eternity.
Please, please help us with a little tweak to the program that at least allows a deletion of the trip if not an edit.
Thanks
Thanks for getting involved with this thread, sprinks. I appreciate your detailed information.
You can edit mileage records while viewing them. This enables you to change the customer/job assigned to a record.

Hi again ZackE,
Unfortunately, we were FORCED to update to QB Desktop Pro Plus 2023.
So, now there is no help for us when errors are made to a trip in the new Track Vehicle Mileage module.
Yes, I input the wrong job for the mileage, and yes, then the trip was approved.
And now we have an eternal QB error that will live forever in QB reports...
But maybe there can be hope that the edit functionality can be restored.
Please forward the request for restored edit functionality.
Thanks
Looks like I've just encountered this problem too my friend. The fact that it's impossible to simply edit or delete a MILEAGE entry is insane. I know you made this post a few months ago, but I will just add that the mileage feature on QB is for "informational" purposes only, and none of the mileage expense generated is actually transferred to basic financial statements, so it therefore cannot interfere with the actual accounting information. Regardless, this is STILL madness from Intuit, yet again.
Yes, even better, I have to transfer corrected mileage expense amounts manually, "informationally" informing the IRS about them... from permanently flawed reports.
Hi, I Track mileage in Mileage IQ with 2 vehicles and just did a 3 month import with over 150 entries which I can not delete as not quite the way I wanted the import to work. Like anyone I want to test the import to make sure I have selected the correct information in mileage IQ for the import, not good you cannot delete this data and reimport it the way you want.
Thank you
Richard
It's pretty incredible that almost a year later this issue is still not resolved.
Thank you for joining the thread, @bransome.
I know how you're feeling about being unable to edit your mileage and I'm here to help you edit or delete your mileage in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
To edit or delete your mileage trips on your Desktop, you can simply go to the Company and choose Enter Vehicle Mileage. Then, select the previous arrow to edit the previously entered mileage. On the other hand, if you want to delete it, you'll have to select the Vehicle List and locate the vehicle list that you want to delete.
Here's how to edit:
If you want to delete it, here's how:
In addition, once a trip is approved, it cannot be modified. This means that any changes to the trip details, such as the date, starting and ending locations, distance, and purpose, cannot be made once the trip has been approved. It's important to review and verify all trip details before approving them to avoid any issues.
As a workaround to make changes to the trip, you can switch back to the Basic Mode for Tracking Mileage and manually input the transactions from there. To switch back to the basic version, follow the steps below:
However, please note that if you switch back to the basic version, you won't be able to copy any data from the advanced version of track mileage to the basic version. I suggest that you secure a copy of the data from the advanced version before reverting to the basic version to have a backup.
