Price rules are not coming up on invoice or estimates

Hi, jennifer103!

It is nice to know you're using the QuickBooks features.

You can set up and apply pricing rules if you're using QuickBooks Online in a web browser.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Account and Settings.
  2. Select the Sales tab.
  3. In the Products and services section, if the Turn on price rules Beta is switched off.
  4. You can click Edit ✏️ icon, and select Turn on price rules Beta.
  5. Click Save and then Done.

If you're using QuickBooks Online mobile app, the pricing rules won't apply. You can also check this article on how to clear cache and cookies. This will help the web pages to load data properly and fix minor issues.

I'll be here if you have further questions about price rules. Have a nice weekend!

Price rules are turned on and I tried clearing cache and cookies. The price rules still will not apply to invoices and estimates. This use to work but not it does not work.

Price rules are not coming up on invoice or estimates

Thanks for getting back to us and for sharing updates, jennifer103.

We'd want to take a closer look at the price rules to check why it's no longer applying when creating invoices and estimates. In this case, I would recommend reaching out to our chat or phone support teams. They'll be able to ask for more details to help you sort it out.  Here's how:

  1. Click Help in the upper right-hand corner of QBO.
  2. Look for Talk to a human and click on it.
  3. Type in "support" or "contact support" again and press Enter.
  4. Click I still need a human.
  5. Select Get help from a human.
  6. Choose between Chat with us or Have us call you

They're open from Monday to Friday, in between 6 AM to 6 PM Pacific Time. They're also open every Saturday, from 6 AM to 3 PM PT. Here's an article for more details: QuickBooks Online Support.

Let me know if you need anything else. We're always here to help.

What was the fix for this, it is not working on mine either?  I tried 3 different chats and got disconnected before there was anything resolved.

  3. Choose a template, then click Edit under the Action tab.
  4. Select the Content tab.

Great write up and thinks for pics.  My rate tab was marked, I unclicked and re-clicked, refreshed the page, and it still isn't applying the price rules.

Allow me to step in and help ensure the new price rule will come up on the invoice, PTP77.

There's a possibility that the effective date isn't set up today. You can open the price rule and check the Start date and End date.

Then, make changes to it when needed to ensure the new price rule is applied to the invoice. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙️ and then select All Lists.
  2. Select Price Rules.
  3. Find the price rule, then click Edit under Actions.
  4. Modify the Start date and End date.
  5. Click Update Rule.
  6. Click Save and close.

Once done, create an invoice and check again the new price.

Please get back to me for updates about applying the price rules concerns by commenting below. I'll be right here to always help you.

I have start dates, but no end dates.  Just to make sure we are on the same page.  I setup price rules per customer.  So if I setup a customer for a 10% markup, when i start a ticket for that customer, every item I enter will automatically get raised 10% correct ?

Allow me to step in to continue helping you, PTP77.

Yes, you are correct as long as you selected All products and services in the Products and services field. Otherwise, the 10% markup will only apply to the product type or the list of individual products you chose.

If the conditions of your price rule are similar to my sample but don’t add 10% markup to transactions, it’s best to contact our QBO Support again to investigate it further. You can reach them in the morning when the chat or call volume is low.

I can see that my colleagues have shared references about the price rule. If you want to see more articles for QBO, just go to the main QuickBooks Support page and click More topics.

I'm just right here if you have any other follow-up questions. Take care and have a good one!

I am having the same exact issue, and have tried to trouble shoot it with a member of the support team, who was not able to fix the issue. I am really starting to resent QuickBooks because this isn't the first time a feature I rely on stopped working randomly, and it's a pretty expensive platform for a small business!

Price rules are not coming up on invoice or estimates

It's completely ridiculous that this does not work. After many discussions over live chat, we discovered that price rules DO NOT WORK AT ALL using the new invoice style. I got them to work on the old style. But now, I can't revert back to the old style invoicing anywhere so they don't work anymore. When will price rules work using the new invoice style? In effect, this feature is now completely useless and broken. Please stop sending all of us form answers; this feature simply does not work.

We've heard your sentiments, @ketanmv. We appreciate your interest in adding price rules to the new invoice experience. Don't worry, I'm here to point you in the right direction so we can request this feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I understand the urgency of having this feature, so we can control the price of your products and service using the new invoice style. Currently, this option is unavailable in QBO. In the meantime, we can forward our suggestions to our Product Development Team. They have the ability to review the feedback you've shared with us and might consider adding this option to our future QBO updates.

To do that:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Profile, select Feedback.
  3. Provide a description of your suggestion and click Next.

Moreover, we can customize the layout of your sales forms to enhance your business communications. This way, we can decide which information to include and make our sales forms look professional.

Please don't hesitate to return to this thread if you have other questions in mind about price rules. We'd be more than glad to assist you. Take care.

Price Rules DO NOT Work.

QBO has raised their prices to almost $1,000 a year and the features they tout to have are non-existent.

The theoretical remedies are not invalid and the employees replying to this thread aren't helping resolve any of these issues. An excel form has more functionality that QB.

Very disappointed.

Did anyone find the answer to this? My price rules just quit working. I spoke with their representative and they assured me they were on it. Now when I asked the AI chat, they say Price Rules doesn't work under an "essentials" account and I have to upgrade. Worked just fine for two years, and then just stopped working a couple days ago.

They keep saying they have it fixed or it works, but it never has/does.  Desktop version was so much easier to use, nothing works correctly on the online version.

This is incorrect.  I have QB plus and my price rule changes stopped working on this new invoice layout.. Why change this? The old works JUST FINE!

My feature is essential for for different price structures.

I have QB online and it stopped working for me when i use the new invoice layout.  It works on the old layout.  Why make us change?  The old works just fine. Please do not rturn off the old layout on invoices.

Sometimes, things work fine!!!

What about the May 6 deadline when the old layout is no longer available...just let us toggle to continue using the old layout.. seems pretty simple to me...  most companies have different pricing and discounts...

Has QB fixed this yet?  It's been an issue for a while now.  We all have created price rules (list) for a reason and now with the new invoice format it simply ignores it.  Now we have to type in pricing manually and you have to know all your pricing by client for all products.  Not having this feature waste time, opens us up for errors, and inefficient.  This needs fixed NOW.
