Setting up Dashboard

I'll gladly help you with the set up, rose2017

If you're a new QuickBooks user, the dashboard content will be empty. This page will be updated once you start entering transactions. To do that, you can use the + New button on the left panel and select the transaction you want to create.

Please see this sample screenshot for a visual reference:

Once done, your dashboard will display the real-time overview of your company finances.

To learn more about the process, feel free to check out this article: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QuickBooks Online.

You can always reply to this thread in case you have other concerns with QuickBooks Online. I'll be around to help you out some more. Have a great day!

The dashboard that I want to see is not seen on mine. Can I customize it?

Setting up Dashboard

Hello rose2017,

The Dashboard is already set to display shortcuts and an overview of your business and customizing it is unavailable. You can only customize the reporting period of the report tiles.

For future reference, you'll want to check out these links that will help you in setting up your account and customizing your reports

Let me know if you have other questions about your account. Take care and have a great day!

Why can not you change the reporting period on " Income".

It is stuck on 365 days. No pull down

I use QBO

Setting up Dashboard

Hi 1231 4568 2090 072!

Thanks for visiting the Community today. Hope you're having a great day!

There are some bar graphs that will only show the data in the last 365 days, and only those with a date droplist can be changed. However, you can still use the available reports to see the standing of your income, like Profit and Loss or the detailed sales reports.

You can suggest about adding different periods for Income by clicking on the Gear icon and choose Feedback, and you can also vote on the existing ideas you like.

If you have other questions in mind, feel free to go back to this thread. Take care always!

Setting up Dashboard

Hi,

Is there a way that I can add additional items to my QBO dashboard?

To answer your question about adding an item on the dashboard is no, Michael.

The Dashboard display as a default when opening your company file or account. Here you'll see an overview of your business and it will be updated as you entered transactions in QuickBooks Online.

I understand the importance of customizing or adding items to your dashboard page. For now, this option isn't possible. The information that appears on the Dashboard page depends on the user access level. You have the option to manage and edit the user's role permission. If you want to change the user access to your liking. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙.
  2. Select Manage users.
  3. Find the user you want to edit. Then click Edit in the Action column.
  4. In the User type drop-down ▼ menu, select the new user type.
  5. Choose the user settings, if applicable.
  6. Hit Save.

I also encourage you to share your product ideas with us so that we can improve our software and your experience. You can go to the Gear or Settings icon and select Feedback. All requests will be gathered and reviewed by our Product Development team. They may integrate it in a future update if it is approved.

Additionally, you can add a maximum of two accountants to review your account. You can invite them through the Manage Users page. Please refer to this article for a complete guide: Managing accountant users in QuickBooks Online.

You're always welcome to add any details below if you have further questions with the Dashboard. We're always here to back you up.

Setting up Dashboard

Hi, does QB desktop have a dashboard feature as well?

Good to see you in the thread, @Tom-AFI.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), we have the QuickBooks Home page that illustrates the workflow of some processes. It also serves as a navigational tool where you can click on an icon label. For example, Enter Bills, and QuickBooks will take you to that page.

In addition, you have some control over what appears on the Home Page. To make changes, here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Go to the Edit button at the top.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. In the left menu, click Desktop View.
  4. Go to the Company Preferences tab.
  5. From there, turn on or off some of the icons that appear on the Home page.
  6. Once done, click OK.

After that, to view the Home page, click the menu window. You can also utilize the Home page Insights to see how your business is doing at a glance. To go to the Insights page, click the Insights tab at the top of the Home page.
