This is not an "at the moment" situation. I have been trying for weeks to get the forwarding email set up and always get the same error. I can't imagine this is affecting all QBO users. QB claims to be the leading business bookkeeping software and there is a costly premium to utilize it - It would be appreciated if a qualified technical support agent could address and correct this succinctly.
Thanks for getting back to this thread, @escanlan-strateg.

This has apparently been a problem for months. Any eta on a resolution?
Seeing how this has gone on for 10 months, is there any solution yet. I get the same message.
Hi there, rob-latimer-righ.
I have checked and confirmed the status of the ticket created regarding this issue has already been resolved.
Our engineers have looked into this issue wherein users like you are getting an error trying to set up receipt forwarding. We have found out that users have had success by having another Company Admin or Accountant User create the receipt forwarding email.
That means that all we need to do to set up email receipt forwarding is have another user with admin access or an accountant user do it.
Otherwise, if the issue persists, you can reach our Support Team using the steps provided by my colleague MadelynC above.
Feel free to leave your follow-up questions or other concerns in the comment section below. I'll be here to help.
New to QBO and have decided this was a "next step" for me to use. On 12/2/23 this is still not working. Getting all the messages that others have stated since March 2023. What the heck! When is this feature going to work?
Ok, that was a strange work around to set up another admin. to give me the primary user an email address and rights to forward receipts, but you know what, it worked!
Question, when I tried to forward an email receipt that was simply text in the body of the email and dollar value, - NO PDF, etc. I got a message that QB could not read the receipt? What format works for forwarding?
Greetings, @rob-latimer-righ. Thanks for posting in the Community!
I'm glad to hear that my colleague's advice works. I'll be assisting you today with the correct formatting when forwarding an email receipt.
When forwarding images of receipts and bills to QuickBooks, the photo's file type must be a PDF, JPEG, JPG, GIF, or PNG. You have to make sure each image or file contains only one receipt.
You should email the image to your custom email address @qbodocs.com. It may also take a few minutes to send. Note that you can send multiple receipt images in one email. The file size of the email attachment must be between 46KB and 20 MB.
QuickBooks automatically pulls dates, amounts, vendors, and the last four digits of the credit card from the image. It's important to ensure that email receipts are forwarded with clear and precise letters, characters, and values for QuickBooks to read them precisely.
You can also check these articles to help you learn how to use the Receipts tab to edit and review the transactions created from your receipts and bills. Furthermore, ensure proper review and categorize them into the correct accounts for accurate posting.
