Completely new account, new company, it's not showing a list of chart of accounts.

If you wish to have a live representative to call you, we have a separate process to reach them. Enter your contact information and connect with our Team by following the steps below in your QuickBooks Online account:

 

  1. Go to the Help menu in QuickBooks, then choose the Search tab.
  2. At the bottom click on Contact us.
  3. Enter the keyword Account Management and Billing in the What can we help you with? box.
  4. On the next screen, scroll down to How would you like to connect with us section.
  5. Choose Chat with us to initiate a discussion with a live agent.
  6. Enter you account contact information then press Get a chat.
  7. When using this option, make sure to enable pop-up windows. The chat box will appear at the bottom right section of your monitor, and an agent will be with you shortly after. See this:

THANK YOU! It was the fact that I had pop ups disabled, so nothing ever happened after I got the message "we will chat with you within 5 minutes".

In the mean time I was connected with life tech support by calling the sales number. The tech support person showed me that there was nothing missing in my chart of accounts and that instead the accountant that was helping me with "one-time set-up" via Inuit, didn't look in the right place....

Very frustrating process. Thanks for the quick and friendly help in this community.

Thank you for sharing your concern in the QuickBooks Community, info@yourexperie.

 

QuickBooks automatically creates default accounts in the Chart of Accounts once you sign up for a new subscription. 

 

Since you're unable to find their list, I'd recommend performing some basic troubleshooting steps. Sometimes too much cache accumulated in the browser can cause unexpected with the product. 

 

To start, access your account in a private window. This will help us identify if the issue is cache-related. Simply press the following shortcut keys to open:

 

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Firefox).
  • Control + Option + P (Safari).

 

If you're able to see them on the list, then let's clear the cache in your web browser or use another supported browser. This could be a temporary issue with QuickBooks and the current browser that you use.

This has not made any change. I had a 1 time set up session scheduled via Quicken and the accountant made me aware that what I was seeing was not the full default set of chart of accounts and she couldn't figure out how to solve this. We had to re-schedule our session until this is resolved.

I have received a defective product and I shouldn't have to spend my time trying all sorts of trouble shooting. Is there any way I can actually get tech support for my product?

Thanks for your help. This did NOT lead to any changes.

 

I paid for my Quicken account and received a defective product. I should not have to spend my own time troubleshooting this. Is there any way I can actually get tech support with a life person?

I"m online for the second day in a row with one of your support people. I'm having the same problem with the chart of accounts not showing up when I'm trying to log a bank deposit. This has never happened before. I don't think this second guy is going to be able to solve it either. Please help!

I appreciate the time you took to contact our support to fix the missing accounts. I'd like to help out before we escalate this further. 

 

This is likely caused by a cache-related issue. When a cache data is full or corrupted, this will cause problems on a certain webpage, which is the reason why you're unable to see the accounts. 

 

Have you tried clearing the cache as instructed by ReymondO (or during the call)? If not, you can start by using a private or incognito window to isolate the problem. 

 

To reiterate my colleague's steps, you can use these shortcut keys to open the incognito window: 

 

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL + Shift + P.

 

From there, log in to your QuickBooks Online account and log a bank deposit. When you're able to see the accounts properly, go back to the regular browser and clear the cache.

 

This will remove the browser data that's causing the problem. After clearing it, close out any browser processes to complete the steps. 

 

I would also suggest using a supported browser to avoid issues when using QuickBooks Online. 

 

However if you've already done all of the steps and still can't see the accounts, you'll want to follow-up with our support regarding the issue. Use the same phone number or chat link to reach us again. 

 

To save time and avoid going back from the start, you can request the next agent to take a look at your account, and have them read the notes. Giving them a case number also helps.

Same problem here, I have set up so many clients a few the same way, and for some reason I am missing 140 preloaded accounts. QuickBooks keeps charging more, for lackluster services. 

 

Here is some things that have gone wrong in the last three months with QuickBooks Online:

-Did not file a state employment tax form for 2 clients

-Increasing prices monthly, usually $5 a client a month.

-Chart of accounts missing, tech proceeds to blame me. When they dont even know that chart of accounts come preloaded..I am not kidding..

-They took away the payroll app for and ask you to use their mobile website that glitches out on mobile.

Let me make it up to you by ensuring this gets investigated.

 

I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team again. They're equipped with tools to locate the missing accounts and file the forms. They can also provide fixes for the mobile website.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Help (?) icon at the top.
  2. On the Assistant tab, click Talk to a human.
  3. Enter your concern in the Type something field, then click the send icon.
  4. Click on I still need a human.
  5. Select Get help from a human.
  6. Choose Chat with us or Have us call you.

 

Please check our support hours to know their availability.
