Hello, abedelhadi.

It seems like you're experiencing a browser-related issue which is why some information showing square instead of letter in the PDF pint.

Let's use an incognito or a private browser to confirm the issue by opening any browser, then follow these shortcut keys to use an incognito window:

  • Chrome simply press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • Safari, press Command + Shift + N. Make sure you're using the latest version.

Check your PDF print and see if you can see the same characters, then follow the steps to clear your browsing data if it does. This will allow QuickBooks to load as a fresh page to remove any error messages or glitches that may be standing in the way of certain features.

Otherwise, try using another supported, up-to-date browser.

Hello,

I have tested all the above in all broswers with no luck. It was working last month with no luck.

Please note that I have tested this on Mac and Windows and the behaviour is the same.

Hello @abedelhadi,

Thanks for sharing details about what you've done on your end. I can share some steps to help you fix the printing issue in QuickBooks.

This usually happens when you're using an outdated version of Adobe reader/Acrobat. To avoid printing problems, I suggest updating the program to the latest version.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Start button at the bottom left of your screen.
  2. Type Control Panel, then press Enter.
  3. Select Programs and Features.
  4. Select Acrobat or Adobe Reader, then Uninstall/Change.
  5. In the Setup dialog box, select Next.
  6. Select Repair, then Next.
  7. Select Install.
  8. When the process is complete, select Finish.
  9. Restart your computer.
  10. Log back in to QuickBooks Online, then try to print.

For Mac OS users, you can follow the steps found on this page:  Troubleshoot printing problems in Safari.

If the problem persists, I recommend checking the font you're using for the invoice. It may be the cause of the issue when printing transactions in QuickBooks.

If you're importing a custom template, I recommend using a font available in the system. If you're unsure of the supported fonts, I suggest opening a sales form template.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Custom form styles.
  3. Find a template.
  4. Press Edit.
  5. Go to the Design tab.
  6. Choose Get choosy with your font.
  7. Click the drop-down arrow to view the fonts.

Additionally, I've attached a link you can use about how to edit and make changes to the templates in QuickBooks: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Fill me in if you have additional questions about printing invoices in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help. Take care always.

When I print an invoice that contians non-latin characters the PDF shows a sequare instead of the letter. Last month it was ok and I have no idea what happen today

Hello, I apologize for my bluntness, but this advice is plain wrong.

You have to consider a simple fact. We use a foreign language every single day. All of our software shows said language correctly - every - single - day. Windows, Acrobat, Browsers, etc.

What happens here, is your backend chews up encoding and translates it into garbage. This has nothing to do with user system, but with the way you generate PDF previews and invoices.

The issue is 100% in your court with your backend engineer who's responsible for invoice and pdf generation.

Please ask him to fix this problem.

Thank you

It appears the latest update from Intuit has forgotten non American English letters.

Many of my customers and vendors have Ö Ä Å in them and suddenly an existing customer is not recognised, not can be added with these letters.

This is crazy!
