I can certainly understand how an ability for customers to set up autopay from the invoices you send them could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.
Here's how:
Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can find recent news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.
As a workaround, you can create recurring sales receipts for customers from your end. These transactions will automatically charge the customer's payment method at a specified interval.
I've additionally included a detailed resource about working with recurring payments that may come in handy moving forward: Recurring Credit Card Payment FAQs
Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any questions. Have a wonderful day!
QB Payment doesn't yet offer such feature. You may find the feature on another app with their own payment processor and you can integrate it with your QBO.
thats actually incorrect, according to their own article https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/account-management/set-up-autopay-for-recurring-in... QBO supports the autopay function. However I am not seeing this either in my recurring transaction. What is going on? Was this feature recently removed?
QBO is supposed to have this feature, was it removed?

Hi there, ryan-1234.
Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing details on how Autopay works in QuickBooks Online. Then, to ensure you're able to see the said option.
QuickBooks Online still supports the autoplay function. To ensure you're able to see or enable this option, you'll need first to have a QuickBooks Payments account. This might be the reason why you're not seeing this in your recurring transaction.
Since already have a recurring invoice setup, Autopay is available for your customer if they use the payment methods you’ve selected on your invoice. Autopay works for both card and ACH transactions. Then, please note that Autopay isn't available for recurring invoices with a Daily interval or for amounts over $5,000. To see additional information, you can click this article: Set up Autopay for recurring invoices in QuickBooks Online.
If the issue persists, the cache full of history and temp files is one of the causes of unexpected behaviors, such as being unable to use Autopay. I recommend logging in to your QuickBooks account using a private browser. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue, and private browsing doesn't store local files or cache.
Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using:
If it works in incognito, I recommend clearing the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. You can check this article to see the steps: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.
If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as alternatives.
Additionally, please click this article to see different recommended solutions on how to fix recurring transactions that were not created in the system: How to handle a recurring transaction that did not run.
Don't hesitate to comment below if you have additional questions about your recurring entries in QuickBooks. Feel free to let me know. I'm always here to help.
Id like to NOT offer the auto pay to my customers because their recurring invoice needs changes every month and it sends it out before Ive adjusted their invoice. Is there a way to turn OFF the auto pay option?
Hello bjens1290,
Thank you for joining the QuickBooks Community! Yes, you can cancel or pause autopay. Here's how:

Hey @ryan-1234 @judith-darling did you figure this out? Having the same issue!! Thanks
Thank you for joining the thread, @Jaade.
I want to ensure you can utilize the Autopay feature for recurring invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Before we start, are you unable to see the option to enable the Autopay option? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.
In the meantime, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to get this fixed. It's possible that the browser you're using had a data issue, thus causing unusual behavior in the system. To verify, let's log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account via a private browser. To do so, press this shortcut key on your keyboard:
Once logged in, go back and set up autopay again to double-check. If this works, they need to clear the browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If they get the same result while using a private browser, I recommend switching to a different one.
Come back to this post and let me know how it goes, @Jaade. I'll be around to provide more assistance.
You may also want to view the status of your sales transactions in QuickBooks. You can go to the Sales menu and select All Sales.
Wishing you all the best!
I am still having this issue. I have cleared the cash on both browsers (the sending and receiving) and still no option to set up automatic payments. I tried on a desktop as well as mobile

I'm having the same issue. I've tried all the troubleshooting tips with no solution.
Hello there, @clatsoprealtors. Let's figure out why the Autopay option doesn't appear on your customers' invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
In QBO, only the whole amount can be set up for Autopay. If your customer makes any changes, then the Autopay option no longer displays.
Also, your customer needs an Intuit account to use it. If they don't have one, they have to create a new login.
Once done, here's how your customers can set up Autopay:
Please read this article to learn more: Set up Autopay for recurring invoices in QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, you can make customizable templates for your sales forms to include your preferences in your invoices.
Feel free to reach out back to us whenever you have further questions about the Autopay feature in QBO. I'll ensure to respond to them right away. Keep safe and have a good one!
