Receiving Voucher Inventory Accounts Not Mapping Correctly between POS and Desktop

I have two inventory accounts in QB Financial matching two types of inventory in POS. I have set the correct sales, cost of goods and inventory accounts in the account mapping in preferences, and checked that they are correct for each item in POS.

My problem is this --- the cost of items sold is properly posted as a decrease in the proper inventory account in QB Desktop. However, when I receive goods, all inventory costs from receiving vouchers post to just one of the two inventory accounts. The receiving voucher entry on Desktop doesn't recognize the specific inventory account associated with the item received. What do I need to do to get the receiving vouchers to post to the correct inventory account?

Receiving Voucher Inventory Accounts Not Mapping Correctly between POS and Desktop

Hi KathyR!

Thanks for posting again here. Let me assist you in mapping the inventory accounts.

It's great that you verified that the correct accounts were selected. It could be that there are damaged data on your QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS) file which causes this mapping issue. You'll want to rebuild it to fix it by following the steps:

  1. From the Help menu, select About QuickBooks Point of Sale.
  2. With the Point of Sale information window open, simultaneously press Ctrl+Alt+D+B on your keyboard.
  3. Select OK to close the information window.
  4. Run the Verify utility. From the Help menu, select Debug, then Verify Data.

Once done, run the Clean Up Company Data tool to repair transactions and list damages.

For your QuickBooks Desktop, make sure it's updated and run also the Verify and Rebuild Data tool.

If this behavior persists, I suggest you reach out to our Point of Sale Support Team. They can further investigate it and see the cause of this issue.

Post again here if you have other concerns. I'm looking forward to assisting you again.
