Hello there, @leaders.
Welcome and thank you for posting here in the Community. It's my pleasure to help you today!
As of now we haven't received any reported issues about the customers and vendors search field in QuickBooks Online (QBO). To give you the right amount of information and solution to your concern, may I know what happened to the search field for customers and vendors?
Some issues that you encounter with your QBO account can be solved by opening your account using a private or incognito window, clearing the browser's cache, and using another supported browser. To start, open/access your account using an incognito or private browser. You can use either of the following shortcut keys:
If it works properly using the private browser, you may need to clear the cache of your regular web browsers. You can also try using another supported browser to help us narrow down the cause of this unexpected behavior.

Until recently the customer search results showed the parent customer. This change has now made it very difficult to find customers with multiple accounts under different parents. Previous search also generated all the accounts that matched the search string with the amount owing displayed.
We have had complaints from customers because it takes so much longer now to find their correct accounts.

I'm having the same problem in 6/2020 and it worked from 3/2020 to mid June 2020 and now it doesn't perform the search at all
Specifically in the Vendors|New Vendors entering text in the Company field does not do an Internet search of matching companies.
I tried the private browser and clearing the cache and nothing happens.
Was this ever resolved?
Hi there,@Kevin_R_Hunt.
The Company field in the Vendor Information page can be renamed. You can also add an address on it. That's why in searching names, it will result in a similar issue.
Also, you can check these articles for more information about how this feature works in QuickBooks Online:
Let me know if you need help getting data, reports, and transactions from your vendor.
Having the same issue. Previously, when typing a new vendors company name, a drop down list of similar company names would display (either from an internet search or within QBO from other customers that had already setup the same vendor prior to me) and I could select. The vendor info (address, phone numbers, etc would auto populate and I wouldn't have to type everything in for each new vendor. 3-4 week prior this is how entering new vendors would work. Something has changed and now it doesn't.
