When you send an invoice to a customer and they pay their QuickBooks invoice online using credit card, I am getting charged 3.4% transaction fee. Why?

I am using QuickBooks online. According to this KB article the fee should be 2.9% 0.25: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/bank-transactions/fees-quickbooks-pay... However according to my calculations I am getting charged 3.4% 0.25 Here's an example: Customer invoice is $55 55 x .029 = $1.595 0.25 = $1.85 However for this invoice, QuickBooks charged me $2.12 not 1.85. When you do the math, comes out to 3.4% 0.25: 55 x .034 = $1.87 0.25 = $2.12 Why. I picked my last 8 invoices that customers paid online and they are all coming out to 3.4%

I'm here to share some information about your transaction fees, @ec13.

Fees are drafted when signing up with Payments. When your client pays the invoice (through the link attached to it), there will be a payment charge of 2.9% of the total amount + 25c per transaction.

The transaction fees also include a credit card processing service, set up and monthly service fees, discount rates, per authorizations fees, and others. For more details about this one, check out this link: Credit card processing.

If there are any fees/charges you need to clarify, please reach out to our Merchant Services Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and provide you details of your inquiry.

I'm still open to your replies if you need anything else about processing payments.

You're confirming the fee is 2.9% and the link you sent me, also confirms it's 2.9%.

But QuickBooks is charging me 3.4%. Why?

Hello there, ec13.

I appreciate you for getting back to us.

Since the invoice was paid through the link, I'd recommend reaching out to our  Merchant Services Team. An agent can verify the charge.

When you send an invoice to a customer and they pay their QuickBooks invoice online using credit card, I am getting charged 3.4% transaction fee. Why?

So, a WARNING to all QuickBooks credit card / merchant services customers: I just wasted hours of my life trying to (1) get a hold of support and then (2) convince that person that Merchant Services was incorrectly charging me 3.4% instead of 2.9%.  Finally, I was able to get the agent (on chat) to acknowledge that this was a mistake. His solution: Going forward my rates will be 2.9%.  ... NOT ACCEPTABLE.  QuickBooks Merchant Services has been screwing me out of 0.5% for EVERY credit card transaction they have processed and it is ONLY because I noticed it, that they made the change going forward.  I am able to run reports going back for at least a year, that shows the transaction amounts and the fees. A simple formula is used to calculate the difference and over just a one year period this amounts to hundreds of dollars I feel they owe me.

If you're using Merchant Services I recommend you log into the Merchant Services portal and do some quick math to keep them honest.

I'm planning to take this information up the chain of command and fight to get my money back. This is unacceptable.

@ec13

Consider to use a 3rd party merchant service or payment processor for the time being to integrate with your QBO.
