Does no one at QB understand the problem?? A link is supposed to be emailed to all vendors so they can view/print their 1099s. QB HAS NOT EMAILED THIS LINK TO ANY OF MY VENDORS. Nor have they received them via USPS. This has become beyond frustrating. I've paid for a service that I'm not getting. Shame on QB for terrible service.
Let me clarify things out for you about the link to view 1099, ECR2.
When you electronically file 1099s with us, we mail a printed 1099 copy to your contractors. However, if you want them to view their 1099s online, you need to invite them.
Here's how:
I'm adding this link for additional details about the process: Learn how your contractors can add their own 1099 tax info.
If you need to print 1099s, you can browse this article: Learn how to print 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms. It includes steps if you have issues printing the form.
You can get back to me if there's anything else you need about emailing a link to your vendors. I'm always right here to provide the information that you need.
Your information is not correct. There is no "send email" option, nor is there a 1099 anywhere. Additionally, I never had to "invite" my vendors, last year QB automatically sent the link to the 1099. And that is what QB said they were doing this year.
Again, useless information from QB. It looks like I'll have to manually print all 144 1099s and mail them myself. I've paid QB. for a service I'm not receiving.
Here is the info on the unhelpful link you sent me:
After your employer or client submits your 1099-MISC to the IRS, you'll get an email when it's ready for download. Select the link in the email to sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
You can sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed to view or print your 1099-MISC.
This isn't the experience we want you to have, ECR2.
I understand your frustration and the need for your contractors to view their 1099s online. I can share additional information about this.
After submitting 1099, an email notification will be sent to your contactor once the form is ready for download. Rest assured, they'll receive an email to sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed to view their form once it's available.
In the meantime, make sure your contactors' email addresses are up to date to avoid problems accessing their forms. Additionally, you may have encountered browser-related difficulties when attempting to send invitations. The "Send email" or "Send a remind" button is located at the top right corner of your contactor's profile.
Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. You can start by accessing your account using an incognito window. Here are the shortcut keys:
If this works, you can go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to remove unwanted site data. Alternatively, you can use a different supported browser.

Once again, a response that is not helpful. There is no "send email" button. All my vendors have emails addresses that QB is supposed to use to send them the link for them to set up their accounts to view their 1099s. I'd like a phone number to be able to speak with someone about this issue. I'm totally disgusted with QB at this point.
We don't want you to be inconvenienced in any way. Please be assured that assisting you is our utmost priority, @ECR2.

I'm having this issue too. My contractor's all have filled out their W-9 info through QB (this was done when they were hired). But only two of my contractor's have gotten their 1099. Do I send a new invite???? Confused :(
ME TOO!!!!!! So stressed!!! Did you get a resolution? Are they supposed to have a log-in to something from QB? UGH!!!!
Did you get a resolution to this? My contractor's STILL don't have their 1099 (filed Jan 21st, Accepted Jan 23rd....and still NOTHING!)
Hi kelly-f-rogan-gm,
I would feel the same way if I get many calls from a contractor. Let me help you out.
Given that the correct email addresses are entered in the contractors' profiles, they will receive a notification when their 1099 forms are available online. We send them once the ones you submitted are already "accepted" by the IRS, which was supposed to be on January 21st. Please have them check their Spam or Trash folders or delete some emails if their inboxes are full.
The email that will be sent to the contractors contains instructions for signing up for a QuickBooks Self-Employed trial account where they can view their forms. They can follow the steps below to find the forms.
On the other hand, you can also check and download a copy of your filed 1099 forms from the Intuit 1099 filing portal.
If you have any additional questions about the forms of your contractors, feel free to comment below. Take care always.
Not sure if you ever got this sorted for your 2021 tax year but now that 2022 tax year is upon us and we're filing 1099's again... Likely not because QB is a terrible tax service and Intuit is a predatory corporation that has been involved in several lawsuits due to the way they have conned low-income taxpayers with their "free" filing service.
Not to mention everytime their customer service recommends something in these forums it NEVER works and the menus never reflect what they suggest, just like you experienced.
Anyways, Back to your original issue. Just download the pdf's and email them directly to your vendors so you know for sure. It's a hassle but at least you will know for sure they got them. See the screenshot attached.
Hope this helps and like me for 2023 forward, say farewell to QB not only due to the terrible customer service, but the software itself is plain garbage. Check out Sage or Xero which are smaller companies that ultimately mean better everything.
Guess what?!?! It's now 2023, and the same situations exist. Contractors/vendors are not getting the email notifications, and those who do are unable to access their "free accounts."
I'm one of them - I issue a 1099 to myself. . . I did get the email and have changed absolutely nothing since last year, but this year am unable to access that account, instead being asked to set up a new account. I do that, and it says I already exist, which I knew. . . I've gone the whole incognito browser route, too.
QBO is going to have to figure out something better really quickly. Something that works. Something that recognizes existing information. Something that doesn't force you to recreate your account. Something that lets the W-9 upload actually work. Something where the link - if received - doesn't expire in seven days. Heck, if I'm not ready to do my taxes right then, I'm not going to click on the link. It can wait until I'm ready to do my taxes.
I used to use Sage, and now that they have a cloud option I am seriously considering dumping QBO and going back to what worked for us.
I hear your sentiments, @Lizziebeth10. I know how important for you and your vendors to keep track of their 1099 in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'm here to share additional information to help you with your concern.
Your vendors or contractors won't receive an email of the file 1099 forms not until a week after it's filed. You'll want to check the status of your 1099 form in your QuickBooks Online account. I'll show you how.
Not Submitted: Haven't e-file the 1099s with the IRS.
Submitted: You have e-filed with the IRS.
Received by IRS: IRS has received the information. They are either processing it, or it has already been approved.
Also, Customers who have submitted their 1099 E-File forms will receive a confirmation email approximately a week after the IRS accepts and confirms submissions. You may not receive this confirmation until the middle of January or later.
You can refer to this article for more details: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.
Furthermore, you can refer to this article for future reference if you want to print your 1099 forms: Print your 1099 and 1096 forms.
Ping me if you have clarification or additional information about managing 1099 and other forms in QuickBooks Online. I'll be around. Take care!
Thanks, but a) all of them show in Quickbooks as emailed and mailed, and b) I received the email within two days (and that's my personal email about my 1099, not the company email telling me things were filed). Mine was filed at the same time as everyone else's.
I would say no worries, but actually lots of worries - for Quickbooks.
As accountants, we have workarounds - like downloading and emailing the 1099s (not my favorite), and reassuring our vendors and contractors that the form is also being mailed to their address on file.
I just really hate having to tell the people that "sorry, QB is screwed up and I can't do anything about it" - especially the young people just starting out who are doing their darndest just to figure out this whole tax thing. I can't see them as wanting to have anything to do with QB either in their own private lives (turbotax) or as they get into their professional lives and are looking for accounting software and services.
I just got off the phone with QBO support.
I filed 1099 and received the confirmation that they were mailed and accepted on 1/25.
None of my contractors received their mailed forms and the QBO support just informed me that the forms will be mailed out next week. It's February 2 and the IRS rules state that the forms must be postmarked by January 31.
What is going on with Quickbooks lately. Does anyone else have an urge to look for another accounting solutions?
I regret to know that you still haven't received the said form, LTolm. Let me route you to the right support.

LOL this has absolutely nothing to do with cache and cookies. The vendors aren't receiving their 1099s. The browser doesn't send the 1099s, so clearing the cache on the browser is a complete waste of time, and is just a standard, generic customer support step from a customer support rep who doesn't understand or hasn't bothered to read the actual issue.
That's been my experience with QuickBooks. Customer support is completely useless. They just keep repeating the same thing over and over and don't read, listen to or absorb the actual information you are telling them. QuickBooks clearly knows they have a huge market share and have decided to reduce spending on software enhancements, support and quality assurance.
Anyway, if you could post here how you were able to print the PDFs of the 1099s for your vendors, I'd appreciate it. I'll have to resort to the same thing, but I can't find in QuickBooks where I can print copies of my vendors 1099s.
