E-Filing of Payroll Tax

Hi,

I need help on the following issues:

1. Do I need to record/post any journal entry after e-filing of payroll tax through Quickbooks Online? If so, could you please help me on how to post this?

2. Quarter 2 tax couldn't be filed through online due to downgrading the QBO from advanced to basic. Now after upgrading the subscription, Qurter-3 is filed automatically, but, Quarter 2 is missing. This was paid manually to EDD. How can the quarter-2 payment be adjusted in QBO now? What journal entries are to be passed on?

Kindly help me on the above issues.

Thank you

Marufa

E-Filing of Payroll Tax

Let me answer your questions about managing your payroll taxes and accounting records, Marufa.

To start, if you have made all the necessary entries and payments for payroll taxes through QuickBooks Online, you don't need to make any further journal entries after e-filing, as QuickBooks will automatically update your books accordingly.

As for your next question, please know that we can no longer do an e-filing for your quarter two since QuickBooks does not support late filing. However, you can record tax payments made outside. For further information and detailed guidance, please refer to this article: Record tax payments made outside of QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Also, if you want to adjust your second-quarter tax payment through a journal entry, it's advisable to seek guidance from your accountant to ensure proper documentation.

Additionally, you can check out this article to learn how to view payroll tax payments and forms: View your previously filed tax forms and payments.
