Importing tax/financial data from Quickbooks into TurboTax Business

This is not a QB's issue.  This is a TurboTax Business 2023 issue.  Please post the solution here ASAP.

@4Gal   that makes no sense whatsover.   Are you just posting guesses to answers?   Why reply with a "solution" if you haven't tried your "solution" yourself?

@4Gal How would we get and then use (indefinitely) the trial version?

@SashaMC   We aren't using TurboTax Live.   We are obviously (as stated multiple times) using TurboTax Business.   How do we get the help we need to solve this problem?   It's functionality that the software says it has and shows it in the application but it doesn't work.  It is a BUG!   when will it be solved??

@Fiat Lux - ASIA  How would we do that (i.e. get and download a "trial" version of QB)?   Never heard of that and it seems that would forever alter the QB Desktop file and make it unusable.   Not spending $1800 just so I can upload into TurboTax Business.

HR-Block sells Business Tax software and lets us manually enter data there too.

This workaround worked for me as of March 4, 2024.

I use Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021.
I installed QuickBooksEnterprise24Trial.exe.
I rebooted after install.
I started TurboTax and it found my Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021 file immediately.
You do not need to open or upgrade to QB Enterprise after reboot.

How would we get and then use (indefinitely) the trial version?

You can use the trial version to access your historical data for good. You can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.

After many replies, you should already see a pattern. Support will not acknowledge this issue. If they offer a solution that has proven to work with other users, it means they acknowledge that “policy to block 2021.” You must use the trial version of QB Desktop 2022-2024 as the trigger to export your data from QBD 2021 to TurboTax.

Please detail the steps necessary for me to obtain a refund on this piece of software. It was bought based on misrepresentation by Intuit that it would work within certain parameters, and it doesn't , and it doesn't seem that Intuit is going to fix the issues. I can't use this, and want my money back. I purchased it from a retailer who is reluctant to take back opened software.

Again, what are the steps needed to be taken in order to receive a full refund on this?

Thanks in advance.

I understand how hard your experience has been, Maine.

I'll share the necessary steps to help you in requesting refunds for Intuit products.

There are two ways to process this. First, you use the request form and choose the option, From another retailer for the products listed below:

  • QuickBooks Desktop
  • QuickBooks Online
  • QuickBooks Self-Employed
  • Any Intuit or QuickBooks Payroll product

The second one is for other products and situations. Refer to this article for more info: Request a refund for your QuickBooks product

Furthermore, you can check out this article to learn more about the Intuit return policies: QuickBooks Guarantee

Visit us again if you have additional questions about requesting refunds for your Intuit products. Keep safe!

I did complete my taxes for 2 companies. And 3 owners.

I was able to import all companies.

But you need to download

Install the program after answering the questions.

Reboot

Open the program Enterprise , do not open your file close the program. Reboot

Open turbotax choose file import

From accounting software or quickbooks.

And it will find your files.

When they call to sell you enterprise tell them no thanks.

Started at 6 am finished 6 filings by 6pm.

That gets us by this year.

Not sure about next year

What software did you purchase? QB Desktop or else?

In previous years, Turbo Tax has made us upgrade Quickbooks every 3 years to to be able to import.  It's their way of making more money (as if they don't have enough already).  I hate to spend the money, and hassle of upgrading, but it is either that or doing it manually, and I'm not an accountant.  At least in previous years, they knew enough to tell us to upgrade.

@Brian209

You can still use QB Desktop 2021 with non subscription license for good. Then only use the trial version of QB Desktop Enterprise to export your data to TurboTax.

I would like to point out that the OP said that it does not give the search option. I am also having the same issue as the OP.

shmince, great story about the fridge. Mine had a Fridgidare, similar story.

With regard to QB Pro desktop software (not SAS), I'm totally with you.  Using QB Pro for Mac 2019, and just for taxes, a copy of QB Pro desktop 2018 for Windows (10). And this software meets all my needs.

But, after having a catastrophic experience with QB refusing to open on January 1, 2024, I spent almost a month with QB support trying to fix the problem (which ultimately was resolved by resetting my computer clock to before January 2024, cleaning up QB files and then resetting the clock to real time).  And, during my many interactions with QB support, I learned that this is likely the last year for purchasable standalone TurboTax Business/Home & Business software (like on a disk/download you can install and use offline).  Next year I understand TurboTax0 will be TurboTax Online ONLY and will ONLY work with QB Online. So, start planning accordingly.

Final thought... Clearly Intuit IS trying to push all it's users to a SAS platform. and doesn't seem to fear the loss of clients (us "small fish").  It will be interesting to see how many small businesses walk away from Intuit entirely when this happens; and how damaging it will ultimately be to Intuit's bottom-line.

DRH204, you are correct, rent-seeking just like government. After all, "Klaus Schwab at the WEF said by 2030 "you will own nothing and be happy".  I think Intuit is interested in helping this come about. And, they informed me that next year TurboTax is likely to be Online ONLY, and will only work with online versions of QB. So... I think we are all hunting for an alternate product. I wonder how H&R Block tax software will work? I used it once successfully, albeit with a little extra manual input.
