1099 NEC

Can anyone tell me how to get the 1099 NEC to align properly?   The first 1099 on the page is fine but the second one is completely off.  Has anyone figured out how to do this yet? I'm using QB Desktop Premier 2020

I'm here to help keep the process of aligning your 1099-NEC easy and simple, Nancy00802.

 

Open the 1099 Wizard and follow the prompt until you reach the Choose a filing method window. Follow the steps below to align and print the forms:

 

  1. Click the Print 1099s button.
  2. Select the range (of date) the 1099s were paid from and tap OK.
  3. Pick the form 1099(s) you wish to print and choose the Preview 1099 button.
  4. If the alignment is still off, go to the File menu at the top-left corner and select Printer Setup.
  5. Choose the 1099-NEC or 1099s from the list in Form Name.
  6. Tap the Align button and adjust alignment as needed.
  7. Hit OK twice to save the changes.

Thank you - I have done all those steps and still have the problem.  The first 1099 on the page aligns perfectly, the second 1099 does not - there doesn't seem to be a way to align just the second form.  Any ideas?

I appreciate following the steps above provided by my colleagues. I have other steps to help identify the cause of this alignment issue when printing your 1099 form in QuickBooks Desktop.  

  

Let's go ahead with your printer setting and double-check if it's properly setup. 

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the File menu at the top.
  2. Select Printer Setup.
  3. Press the Form Name drop-down arrow and scroll up.
  4. Tap Align button and make the adjustment.
  5. Click OK twice to save the changes.

Thank you for your help.  It turns out the "Quickbooks" compatible forms I purchased from a seller on Amazon were not compatible.  I purchased additional forms from the office supply store and they work fine!

I am running into the same issue. I tried looking for the forms but they appear to be the same. The TINS and the non employee compensation boxes must align but they don’t in the pictures that the sellers claim QB compatible. Can you please help with a link of the forms that you purchased?

Hi - I have done the updates and attempted to align the form but the issue is that only these fields below are not aligning correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's all printing in the recipient address spread out, causing the address to go to next form.

Allow me to share with you additional troubleshooting steps that could align the form. That way, you can print it and submit it to the IRS. 

 

Since you're still getting the result, I'd recommend using coarse alignment adjustments. This way, we could determine if the issue is within the printer settings. Here's how:
 

  1. Go to File, and then select Printer Setup
  2. Choose the form you want to print from the Form name drop-down menu.
  3. Select Continuous (Perforated Edge) from the Printer type drop-down list.
  4. Click Align, then choose a template to use.
  5. Once you’ve selected a template, select OK.
  6. Click Coarse, then OK to print a sample form.
  7. Check the pointer line QuickBooks printed across the middle of the sample. Note the number closest to the arrow points. Enter this number in the Pointer Line Position field, and then select OK
  8. Take note of the printer alignment position on the test form for future reference.
