QBO multiple tax rates on one invoice

This isn't solved!  Quickbooks is funneling more and more of us online and this is a pretty basic issue that should be resolved.

Have you found a solution for this problem?  We are having the same issue.  We want to switch to QBO, but cannot see a way use multiple tax rates, so we have stuck with QBD, but it is not quite working for us.  Help!

With a QuickBooks Online subscription, users can add multiple sales tax rates, including combined ones. After setting them up, they have the ability to be linked with sales forms. Payments can be recorded in the Sales Tax Center and there's also liability reports which can be generated.
 

Currently, there isn't a feature which enables subscribers to add more than one tax rate on a single invoice. Our QBDT product does have this ability though.

I agree with Need Tax. This issue is NOT solved, and it is a major drawback of QBO. I run a business in Maine, which has an 8% restaurant sales tax and a 5.5% regular sales tax, and most of my daily sales receipts have both tax rates on them. I had a good workflow in QBMac for this, but I switched to QBO at the request of my new accountant and have been lost and miserable ever since. Also, during the conversion from QBMac to QBO it converted all the receipts that included my sales tax subtotals to general journal entries and made them static lines. I switched to QBO months ago, but am way behind on entries because I have not been able to solve this problem and dread the solution that I am becoming resigned to, which is to make multiple sales receipts for each day (one for each tax rate). Not only will this be very time consuming and cumbersome across multiple locations, but I fear it will be very hard to look at the data and catch mistakes because it will be spread out over multiple entries and the totals will not match the daily totals I get from each location. I expected some grumbling at the workflow when I switched to the web-based programming, but I did not expect to take such a gigantic step backwards when I am now locked into paying WAY more. I don't understand why the subtotal line workaround feature that is in QBDT can't also be in QBO.

I totally agree!  I am currently in the process of switching from the Online version to Desktop!

Agree, seems like an essential feature in our world of taxes, taxes, and more taxes.

I too am having the same difficulty and from what I have heard from a Canadian Counterpart, the international version of QBO does have that option so why would it not be in the US version?

Kindly help on this taxes issue, we have now two taxes on our invoices and QBO is not helping

Before I lay down some details, I'd like to ask some more information about the two taxes on your invoices. 

What issues do you have with the two taxes? Are you trying to add another tax rate on your invoice? Or are you handling multiple state taxes on a single invoice?

We have the issue of some products/services being subject one tax rate (a 6% tax rate) and another set of products/services that are subject to a 7% (the base 6% rate + another 1% tax rate). 

In  Kentucky, we have the situation where some products/services are subject to the base tax rate of 6% and another group of products/services that are subject to a 7% rate (the same 6% base rate and a special, additional 1% tax rate).

The sales tax is calculated based on the customer's address and the option to manually add a new sales tax rate is unavailable. What we can do is overwrite the rate on your invoice. Let me show you how:

1. Open or create an invoice.
2. Click on the See the math link (with blue highlights) under the sales tax amount.
3. In the Tax Categories and Totals section, click on Override this amount.
4. Enter the tax rate and reason.
5. Tap on Confirm override.
6. Press Close.

So here is what I am needing and it doesn't seem to be solved here. 

I need to do this on one invoice. Right now I am having to create two separate invoices just because of this problem. 

Two line items: 

Line Item 1 - Desktop County - 5.5% Sales Tax

Line Item 2 - Online County - 5.96% Sales Tax 

I noticed this post if over a year old. Has anyone found a solution?

At this time, the option to add more than one tax rate in a single invoice is still unavailable with QuickBooks Online. However, as a workaround, you can use the steps provided my colleague RCV to overwrite them.

Adding multiple sales taxes to a single transaction is still not available in QuickBooks Online.

You'll want to create a separate invoice for the items that will charged a separate tax rate. This way, you'll make sure that QBO will calculate the sales tax based on the correct tax rate.

Did you know that you can also send feedback about this to our product engineers. Feedback and feature requests can be sent directly from your QBO account. Customer inputs are collected and reviewed if they can be added in the future updates. Here's how:

1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
2. Type in your feedback and suggestions about the sales tax feature. 
3. Click Next to submit them.

Has this been resolved? We have some products/services that are subject to sales tax and some that aren't. I can't find a way to combine them. In the desktop version it was not an issue. Please help

As of now, this is still unavailable, and we're unable to provide a timeframe for when this will be ready. Still, I recommend sending this feedback to our product engineers. We can submit your suggestion to our product engineers by going to the Gear icon and select Feedback.

Also, we can check the votes added to this product suggestion. Here's how:
 

1. Go to this link: Feature Request.
2. In the Search field, enter the request you added before.
3. Click the Search icon or press Enter on your keyboard.
   
4. Find the appropriate request you submitted and open it by clicking the statement.
5. You'll then see the number of votes on the left side. See the sample screenshot below.
   

If you want to add a new idea, click Post a new idea.

Why has QBO not developed the multiple tax rates on 1 invoice yet?  People have been asking for it for years and it hasn't been implemented.  I think I'll be looking for a new platform instead of using Quickbooks.  They just don't keep up with the needs of customers.

I am aware of the advantages for businesses like yours to be able to add multiple tax rates in a single invoice. I want QuickBooks Online (QBO) to have this feature as much as you do.

But QBO doesn't have that feature yet. However, I strongly urge you to share your thoughts with our software engineers. They carefully examine customer feedback, especially when determining how to improve QuickBooks.

Here's how:

1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
2. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
3. Type in your suggestion and click Next.
